MP3 vs. Prelude

2001 Laser Blue MP3
This was cool...This late model prelude came up next to me at a light and took off a little speedy with his loud a** muffler whailing away, so I keep an eye on him. There was traffic all around me and therefore couldn't get next to him. At the next light he got through as the light was turning yellow, I was too far away to make the light before it turned but I said to myself "I WANT HIM!" so I floored it I get through the light and tail him a little until we reach a bridge that leads to a portion of my city we call "The Island". I pull in front of him going over the bridge and the light just over the bridge turns yellow, I say "here we go" and reach for "The Switch", hehe. I take a look around(looking for the fuz) and look at him and the light turned green, I got a little of a jump and we were both WOT! I felt the N2O kicking in and smokin' my tires, I was about a car length ahead going through first then I hit second and leap forward another 1/2 car length hitting about 45mph, then third gear, hitting around 55mph then I see him in my side mirror backing off so I let up and start braking hard because the speed limit is 30. I just had a big grin on my face as he passed me, keeping his eyes on the road. After that light there is really nothing for another 10 miles and we were side by side the whole way. I wanted to go again but we never caught another light. We did do some of your good ole I speed up and you try and catch me stuff . I have never used my nitruos right off of the line before and it really felt good to feel it pull so hard. Well I feel good for one, hehe.

These are the type of stories that I want to be telling!! Look in the registry sometime an contact me. When you have time, I want to talk about some specifics of your Zex kit. I am trying to decide which kit to get. Any personal input/facts you can provide will help me immensely!

MP3 owner, just curious do you know how well our engine can take N2O? And if you have made any other mods that can take that kind of mix? By the way, great kill.Thanks.

I have no idea what I am doing, hehe. I just knew I wanted N2O and got it. Although from what I have been told by others in my area and on the internet the big problems we might have are the pistons and the rods. They are not forged therefore they are not as strong as we would like them to be. I have ran through 1 bottle so far and have not had any problems with it. Also if your car has any problems then the N2O will make them ten times bigger, so you will want to keep your car on a strict maintainece schedule. As for as the amount of N2O you will want to run, stay small. I am running a 55shot and it is plenty for most of your imports. Anything bigger and you will most likely blow something up. I might go with a 65shot if I can find a way to retard my timing and run it safely. Even if I do find a way I would not run it all the time, just for track use or a mustang here and there :D
Right now I have no mods besides the cone filter and the N2O. I do have the Bosal on the way though.

No problems. Now if I can just figure out how to shift properly :) I tend to grind the gears when trying to shift fast :( But I think I'm getting better, this is my first stick even though I drive a stick at work, a sports car is way different than a six speed truck.

Sure...do you want to take up a collection for me to pay for it? hehe j/k. I may do that when I get the time and the money. I am curious as well.

It's good to here a win for the home team. I was thinking about NOS, but I will see how it works in yours first. I was talking to a guy here tonight that was checking out my neons, and my MHP intake. He said that his dad was a Mazda specialist (What ever that means) he told me that mazda was going to put out a supercharger sometime in 2002. I hope sooner that later. That is the way that I want to go. Who knows you might even talk me into gettint some NOS. Talk to yo later man.

I think nos is only supposed to be use at 90+mph or in 5th gear. Using nos in first and second, I'm sure the engine won't handle it or especially when shifting when nos is used the engine revs to quick before u get a chance to hit second gear or third. I was told that by a guy who works at premier audio, it's a racing shop. And why do you think on the Fast and the Furious they didn't use nos on the start even though there car was fast and decked out. The eclipse use nos as he was already at 130mph same for the Red Rx-7 they both use nos at topend and high speeds in the Top gear. I know it's just a movie but come on now. Using nos on the start that's impossible no matter what your first gear goes through the fastest and there's no way anyone can switch to 2nd gear w/o messing up. Even a pro skilled driver. I say Maybe third gear but i doubt that. Good kill though if u did. :D

actually you can use NOS from a launch, but technically it won't really be on, since with most systems now, its activated at WOT...and you're usually not at WOT from a launch....at least i'm not. and if it is on from the launch...then im impressed...our stock clutch must be pretty good since there's no slippage.

First of all the fast and the furios was a great movie but it was just a movie, so you cannot refer to it for technical reference or merit.
Nitrous oxide is used only during WOT and not when you are changing gears. It is intended to be used on first second and third gear. Nitrous shoud NEVER be used on the highway or at Highspeeds. Unless that is that you are lookin to fry a couple of piston rings and buckle some rods. Trust me I have seen it happen after I warned this person. In this day and age nitrous oxide activation can be mounted under the acceleration pedal of the vehicle so it can only be used under WOT and not when shifting. Remember never use nitrous at idle or during shifts! In first gear nitrous shoud not be applied until you are over 3000rpm and at WOT. Nitrous is a great thing but you must be very very very careful with it. Proper fuel enrichment shoud be used in conjunction with nitrous and your timing shoud be retarded to about 6 degrees. I reaaly dont want to see you guys blow your s*** out there because of some stupid mistake or misconceptions portrayed in some glamorized hollywood movie. Let me not begin to speak of all the technical inaccuracies in the fast and the furious. But again it was a very entertaining movie.

Right you are, above 3000rpm and not while shifting. These are the rules that I follow.
Now about the button under the accelerator...has anyone done this? I know with the ZEX kit it ties into the throttle body wire and the ZEX module takes care of the activation. Hmm...anyway good points spoolin.
What about this turbo thing you have goin'? BTW...Where did you get that turbo manifold? It looks like you have a great start on the psst! psst! sound :D

Allright buddy i got ya. I know it's just a movie i just said that when i posted a reply, can u read. If u use nos in first gear on the launch Above 3000rpms and not supposed to switch gear while using nos well how in the heck are you supposed to get to 2nd or 3rd gear when nos is used on the launch. For an EXAMPLE: HERE LET ME SAY IT AGAIN FOR AN EXAMPLE: If u have your speed cruise at 55mph on cruise control and couple seconds later you wanna slow down to drop the gear your gonna mess up the engine while switching the gear when it's on cruise control. BUt if u tap the brake first then ya u can switch the gear. It doesn't take onehundred questions or Answers to figure that out. Do you think 2nd and above to 5th gear can reach redline faster than 1st gear. I don't think so. So there's no way in the heck you can use nos while over 3000rpms especially when the redline is at 6500rpms. Like i said in my opinion maybe 2nd, 3rd and i know 5th can. But as for the Fast and the Furious that was just an example though. Why do you think they never used nos on the start when especially you wanna have the lead or jump on people. Nos is only supposed to be used at 90+mph or 5th gear in my opinion. If you wanna blow your engine go Ahead, But i don't know how u would wanna do that to the special MP3. Same goes for gone in 60seconds Nos was used over 90+mph think about it. :D

It's early, I'm stupid, but what's WOT? And how long did your first bottle last you, Owner?

Triton.. *scratches her head* I didn't really get any of what you said, 'cos it was really hard to read. But like Spoolin said earlier, Fast and the Furious was just a movie, and so was Gone in 60 Seconds. FTF was amazingly fake in some ways and, if I remember right, 60 Seconds had some pretty outrageous parts, too. It really isn't anything to base your actions on. By the way, do you even have NOS? I don't know.. it just seems like Owner would really know since he has it..

BTW, props for burning the prelude. That's one for me and one for you...2 down total!

Lets see I will be in 5th gear at 90 to 120 mph and I am hi in the rpm range and my piston speeds are at there maximum and my piston rings are on the verge of thermodynamic meltdown hmmm let me add NOS!!! Hell thats what they did in the movie! And plus my friend at the (audioshop) said thats suppose to work that way.
(sigh in extreme sarcasm).
I dont mean to bust your balls triton but it looks like you are in a little over your head. What the hell are you talking about? I think you have never been a car with Nitrous and by the way triton its not NOS. Thats a brand hence nitrous oxide systems.
I am waiting in great anticipation for your next whimsical ricer ignorant responce to this. Please entertain me triton with your infinite knowledge on NOS!!! Or you may surprise me and come back with a half intelligent post.
Read up books are good for the head they stimulate your mind and research stuff before you become an expert.
note:by any means I am no expert, I have no engineering degrees or am not a mazda master tech but I try to find valid and educated logic in things, in otherwords I dont refer to movies and audioshops for technical information.

SpoolinMp3 i am neither an expert on N20 nos whatever you wanna call it. I just know that When i was gonna get a 100+shot of nos in my 94 Protege Lx, I called bakersfield they explain what nos is gonna do and how they are handled. The guy said Nos is only supposed to be used at high speeds 90+mph and will take you to your topend fast as the car will go. I remember i asked if nos can be used on the start or switching gears he said no. It's like having cruise control speed set at 60mph and when you shift down to a lower gear your gonna mess up the engine as shifting down without taping the brake first same goes for nos. As nos is used in 2nd gear and your almost at redline and trying to switch to 3rd sorry bro your gonna mess up the engine. He said the safest to use nos is on high speeds. Using nos in the city is dangerous when there's traffic ahead while there's stoplights. I Know nos is dangerous nor the safest thing to use but if nos is supposed to be used, Use it on the track or open road where the car can handle it. Instead of me getting nos i got the Mp3 instead cause i have been waiting for it since January 2001. Now that it came to selmaautomall in August They called me and told me that there was one laser blue mica Mp3 on the lot the only one coming there. I had a tough choice choosing should i get Nos or MP3 i chose the MP3 cause i had My 94 Swooped up alittle bit, But i can't turn down the Special MP3. Yeah i don't have nos But i know what the guy told me about it cause he owns a 97 Honda Accord EX-V6 5-Spd manual. He had a bottle of 100+shot of nos put in and it took him to 125-130mph fast as heck. He said that the bottle will last a month or so just using the bottle once or twice every other week. there about 6-7 pushes or if you hold it the nos switch button down it'll last for about 2min. :D
