Mazda MP3
Well,my car was taken from me by my dealership. They're using it as a test car to figure out once and for all, the infamous clunk. I know that absolutely nothing will come of this (besides me losing me car for a week) so i'm not expecting anything new. But if they do come up with a fix, i'll make sure i post it with pictures....

P.S. They gave me a base 2002 black protege to drive....i really wish i had my mp3:(

SomaMP3-
Sorry you'll be without your car for a week, but maybe some good will come of it. Did you print out any of the threads about the bushings and rear struts being loose to take it to them? That way they'll be starting off with a little background info. Or have you already made them aware in other ways?

I order to really fix this clunk, Mazda needs to take an MP3 ( Mine would be great since i go through the most) and keep it for like 3 months, better yet, buy it from the owner, and have guys drive it daily. 1 week is nothing. They could think they fixed it, give it back only to have it come back withing the next month or so.

I appreciate their effort though. although I'd be concerned with some mechanic using my car as a guinea pig. God only knows what they'll take apart, and put back together wrong.

Are they taking it to fix yours only or to issue a TS for everyone?

Well, the service manager has three mp3's to deal with and he finally wants to try and solve it. I have a feeling that he wants to work on mine because its got the most kms on it.....and i have no idea how long the car will be away. I'm just guessing a week. Like I said, i'm not expecting anything to come from this. I still can't believe the difference in road noise between the mp3 and just a standard protege (my rental car). I really hope they fix the squeeks and the clunks:(

Look in the MSP forum someone just discovered that a clunk is also being cuased by too much play in the rear struts. Something like that could be the problem or the precursor to the bushings wearing out very quickly.

yeah, i heard of that msp already.....but i still think its the bushings....Does anyone know if you can weld the sway bar directly to the chassis or would that completly eliminate its purpose:confused:
