Welp,

That's about the size of it. Bad luck last night. An encounter with a skunk sent me into a ditch and on my roof. I was doing about 50, seen the skunk, my dumb ass self hit the brakes and turned at the same time causing me to start sliding to the left out of control. I counter-steered back to the right a little too much and ended up going sideways into a hugh ass 4 ft. ditch and when my front hit, it pretty much sent me into a barrel role. I walked away with a scratch on my hand and my shoulder. Thank god for airbags and seatbelts.

******* skunk, **** me for not just hitting the bastard. The car pretty much has to be totaled. Ripped my front bumper off, bent the whole radiator crossmembers, and my roof is pretty much flattened down about 1 1/2 inches.

I loved that car too. Loved it. I freaking can't sleep, I feel like s***, i just wanna roll up and cry or something.

That sucks...if you want to find the silver lining here, now you get money to put towards a car that will never clunk...

on a side note, at least YOUR airbags went off, there have been plenty of people's who didn't.

yeah dude, first apexi, now yours. sucks. but do let us know if you put things up for sale. it's the next best thing to gap insurance.

Thanks for the kind words. No I didn't have GAP insurance. I just heard of that like last week in a thread I was reading, and was going to look into getting it. Which is bad cause I just looked up the value of my car on Kelly Blue Book, and it's worth like $10,750, and I still have probably 12 or 13K left on it. I didn't even have the car a year.

If my car is totaled, I think my insurance takes ownership of it and I can't part anything out. I don't know for sure though, so If by some chance I do get to salvage it, I'll let you all know what's still in good enough shape. I will definately need some cash to pay to fill in that small deficite.

if you can get your car towed to your house, that would be the best. there, you could swap out your rims to the winter ones (if you have them). the racing beats, if undamaged, still go for about 4-5 bills on here at the bottom end. then take out the sub. those go for about 100. and your sparkco wires, your injen intake, and your cf gauge bezel and dave B rings which should fetch you another $200. it's not the gap, but it's another $7-900 you would have lost out on if you just let the insurance take ownership of your car. as long as you still have stock stuff, you're golden.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Usually what happens is if they declare the vehicle a total loss, they will let you buy it back from them. They will just take a small percentage off of the amount they will cut you a check for. If you know that there are a lot of good parts left to sell, it is probably worth buying back from the insurance company. However, if they offer you more than what you owe on the loan, it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle to buy back.

holy hell man, this sucks...it always sucks to hear these totaled mp3 stories!

if you do end up salvaging it(if you buy it back from ins, and strip it to the frame, youd probably end up paying it all off with the money for the parts.) i'd call dibs on the glovebox and the drivers front window trim piece(the silver piece)

sucks to hear what happened regardless.

I also talked to some guy who bought a yellow mp3 brand new and it got totaled 3hrs after they bought it....

I can't believe we have lost three mp3's in two weeks. So sorry to hear about yours going down. Makes me want to go buy a plastic bubble for mine.

Unfortunately the insurance company already has posession of the car and deemed it a total loss. I don't have any means of getting anything else out of it. The only things I took were the face plate off the radio, The sub and the 4 floor mats. Oh plus I have a brand new set of spool springs that were never installed. That's about all I have to offer for sale. The rear floor mats look brand new but the front two are semi-worn. Oh and I have a set of 16" steelies w/ Blizacks on them. 2 of em have about 75% tread on them and the other 2 have about 50% tread on them.

I would like to have another MP3, but think I'm going to get an Xterra. I was looking at those before I found my MP3 but instantly fell in love with the MP3 and had to buy it. I'm still doing my research about Xterra's though. It'll depend a lot on how much i'll owe after getting a check from the insurance co. I might just drive a beater around for a year till my insurance goes down a bit. I'll start a new thread some time listing the things I can sell. I'll talk to you guys later.
