Moving the MAF to the pressure side.

i know there are like 3-4 threads about this, but i like having all the info and feedback in one thread. I just got my MAM fmic kit and prolly installing it this Saturday. Im gonna move the MAF on to the Cold pipe(the one that goes from the IC to the Throttle Body)
what are the Pros And Cons ?
from what ive read Pros are: No Stalling with open vent BOV, No turkey since u can loosen the BOV as much as you want, better throttle response.
Cons: MAF was not made to be installed on that pipe so it MIGHT shorten the life of the MAF but so far no problems with anyone whos done this.
the car will run leaner?? im not sure about that one.
 
ya i know but im just scared that the car will run leaner and since im flashed itll be even worse
 
I ran the MAF on my cold pipe for 30K miles at 6-9psi...no problems until recently..my car is bucking really bad at anything from no boost to 3psi...MAF could be a culprate as it may be going bad and not reading properly..we'll see..
 
I ran mine about 6 inches from the throttle body at 10 psi for about 30,000 miles,never had a problem.

things only got better after moving it.



but yeah,it probaly will shorten the life of it.
 
I've been pushing 12 psi through mine for about 25k now. No problems, no stalling, and no turkey.
 
i'm gonna do this as well...should i put my bov on the hot pipe or the cold pipe (right next to the IC). I've been told the car might not run will with the MAF on the pressure side and the BOV on the hot pipe. anyone care to comment...hope this isn't a threadjack...

I have my BOV about 10" after the turbo. Since it is supposed to be letting off the pressure of the turbo as quick as possible to prevent shaft stress i fugured that would be the best place for it. Been working great for 25k now.
 
how does a change like this effect tuning? How different would my "blow-through" MPI map have to be?
