Great writeup, now you got me a little scared but I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. Question I have is where would i lift on the engine from underneath if I don't have an engine hoist? Same goes for the Transmission when I'm doing the driver side mount.
Well, I did the side mounts yesterday, I found a nice hard spot on the block just behind the front mount and got the job done although it was a PITA. I thought the passenger side one was a b**** because of the flange but that was nothing compared to the driver side bolt that is in the side of the chassis. I tried every type of socket and wrench and eventually gave up on that idea to break the bolts holding the mount to the transmission. Well, 3 of the 4 mounts are in and not bad, just broke the battery tie down bolt and broke my dad's socket wrench while trying to break the bolts from the transmission. I found that much more accessible compared to that 1 damn bolt on the back of the mount towards where the battery would be. So in total, it would have taken me like 2 hrs for both the mounts but i spent 1 hr on the passenger side and about 4 on the driver side.
The 3 red arrows are truly bitches of the whole install, if I could get that damn bolt off, I wouldn't have had to spend 3 hrs on that 1 damn mount.
I think I noticed more when the front one was put in but if there is added vibration, it's minute. The AWR side mounts are pretty soft, softer than the ones from RR racing for the front and back. However, with those 3 in, I'm tempted to either try the back mount or give it to someone to do, lol.
wicked write up mate, ive just slotted home a new engine, and i put all the mounts in, hated it to start off with but since theyve settled down i love them. only have the problem of the left side ones popping out lol, so im gonna follow ure guide and cable tie them in. is it safe to just undo that one mount and get it out sort it and wack it back in, or would u defo suggest using a winch etc? i dont wanna take it off and the engine drop onto the floor lol
