Mount Amp on Sub Enclosure?

How damaging / dangerous is it to mount an amp to the side of a sub woofer enclosure (assuming there is room for the amp to breathe)? Will it affect performance any more than mounting a few feet away?

Mounting the amp on a subwoofer enclosure is accecptable, but some say the excess vibration can cause connections inside the amp to break lose and cause a failure. Many use this option (and I have b4) and never have a problem.

you shouldn't have any problems with a well built amp. hell, even my old power acoustik amps were mounted to the enclosures and i never had any problems with them. think about how much vibration any amp has to deal with when it's mounted in a car, whether or not it's secured to the enclosure. they are designed to take a beating.

I have never had any problems mounting an amp to the sub box. I even had this set up with an amp hooked up to my bandpass box with 3 12's in it in the back of my old Cherokee. I used to wheel the hell out of it too. Fallen trees who cares just climb over them. Whats a few scratches and dents in an old beater.

So you can safely mount your amp to the sub box.

We do this all the time at the shop. Companies have testing facilaties for things like vibration for their components.

If you do mount the amp to the sub enclosure its a nice little package for theives to get if your car gets broken into. It happened to me. I had 3 10" w6's and a Xtant 1000w amp mounted to the box. They both mysteriously disappeared one dark and stormy night in 2002. So now when i put my 10" in my P5 the amp is goin under my seat.

it doesn't matter where it's mounted. if a theif wants it, he'll take it, depending on how much time he has. a good 2-way alarm and a mossberg 500 are the best way to prevent stolen equipment;)
