hey everyone, I'm thinking about buying a bike pretty soon since I have a new job. Probably a high apr since my credit is bad. I'm 23 years old, so do I need to get a permit first or can I just begin practicing without one here in CA? I have the handbook to study, and I have an appointment at 2:20 tomorrow.

get your permit. it's a written test and you can ride in the day, no passengers, no freeways. get the handbook and brush up on your drivers license test, too. they make you retake the driver's written test when you go in for the motorcycle permit test.

you'll first need a written permit. Afterward, you can take your test if you know how to ride. Beware on the test you don't want to bring a big bike because you will need to do some tight turns. a 250 or 500 is good. I would suggest taking the class at some JC because that way you don't have to take it with the DMV and you actually learn how to ride instead of "thinking" you know.
