Motor swap ideas

Alright, I've grown tiresome of this weak FS-DE..I was looking into Millenia S-type motors.. 2.3L V6 Supercharged 200hp/210lbft (KL-DE/KL-ZE)...Im not too sure if it'll fit or not in my 2k2 DX..Looks like it should clear the engine compartment. Hmm..Not unless someone wants to give me a nice fresh spool stage 3 kit.. Any ideas though? I was also thinking about doing a CA18DET drop in..I know its nissan..Swap the axles, all that fun stuff..but phew, my god would that be fast..and it actually fits!

 Do you have ANY IDEA how difficult it would be to do what your talking about? I seriously your that commited to it, you would be better off (and most likely ceaper) to go get a new car.

Its not as hard as you think it is. Try pulling the 6.6L out of a 78 trans-am..The KL-DE should fit right in, the only issue would be fabricating the link for the tranny

Fabricating the tranny link???...You would need a whole new (ie. diffrent tranny). NOt to mention the mounts aren't the same for the motor, so you would have to fabricate them. You would have to find a way to route both headers. New suspension in the front to handle the extra weight. Then you'd have to cut all the stock wiring out, replace it with wiring from the donor, and replace the ECU.

Those are just the issues you would have off the top of my head, I'm sure there would be more that would sneak up on you.

Fot that kind of money you could go out and buy a 2nd Gen MX-6/Probe and drop the KL-ZE in and be done with it.

You dont need to replace all the wiring, you just need to make harnesses. The motor mounts aren't that bad, I'll get on the horn with AWR to fabricate me some and re locate the mount points. The ecu, well duh, i'll have to swap that. The tranny, would be a portion of the millenia tranny, and the 5-speed link of the protege, i'll most likely re-inforce it then have a coupler CNC'd to link the 2. Its been done..MANY MANY times..I.E. Making '98 R/T Durango a 5-speed.

GO FS-ZE!!!!! well its up to u. i'm planning to get the motor in the near future which is when I go to Japan for my exchange student program. :-D

yea whatever...you dont need to buy a fast car to have a fast car..and no this isnt a honda board..im not a eff'n ricer..i used to have a 450+WHP trans-am..s*** aint no joke..

(huh) (hmm) (hi) (attn) (uhm) QUERSTION!

Maybe you've already answered this, but how the **** did you manage to go from a 450hp trans am to a ******* protege? Nothing wrong with proteges of course, it just seems like a REALLY ******* HUGE jump.

oh I restore cars with my father. I bought a '78 Y-82 Trans-Am 6.6L (Gold Spec-Ed) We fully restored it.. Then we got bored. So we took out the motor, dropped in a demon double 4 barrel carb..bored it .38 over and so on and so forth. I never had it on the street. It was with the intentions to sell. But, it did put down a sub-13 time at old bridge and thats with s*** rubber and barely any traction control. I had a 626 before this..I just picked up the protege in april..Its my daily driver..Now im getting bored with it..I either need to swap this motor..or just find a way to build this ****** up and still be able to pass emissions and drive it every day..know what I mean?

i just talked to turbochargers.com..I'm going to get their turbo starter kit and just build it up gradually..seems to most cost efficient and best bang for my buck..god damn I change my mind alot..man am I glad I didnt buy a header..
