So was getting the car ready for trade in...took it to get cleaned and get a new windshield and on my way home....it started to sound like a civic/lawnmower, the ticking is horrible...it still got me home and ran ok, but i know its on its way out....so what would you guys recommend...buy a used motor, or try to fix this one?

Little pieces of metla bouncing around the cylinder.

It would have rounded off the spark plugs and erroded the cylinder, piston and valves.

Crap, stupid speakers on laptop dont work, I'll have a listen to that clip when i get home Joka1, i should just record what noise its making, regardless in a couple weeks when I get back from Halifax im going to rip the motor apart and find out what the heck happened, its been stalling and bucking and prior to the ticking/knocking, also the coolant boils....and boost stopped holding...thinking the head gasket might be gonzo too, if i get off my ass this week i'll take it apart and get pictures

I can help you with the gasket if you feel like driving. I have done 5.

Ottawa is not that far..

I would if i thought I could make it..its making the exact noise my jeep made before it went from a 6 cylinder...to a 5....

What was the damage?

Plug was smashed to where there was no gap. I boroscoped the cylinder and there was a few small scratches but nothing that has effected how the engine runs. I was very lucky

Well I'll just pull the plugs when i get home and see if any of them are mashed...maybe my motor got "screwed" too...thank you I'll be here all week, try the veal...
