Motor Mount Thread Stripped

So I was playing with different motor mounts to get the best feel, and somehow the thread that holds the vertical bolt got stripped. The bolt catches on fine in the beginning but as it about to get tight at the very end it slides back. I tried new bolt, didn't work. Got the same size tap and ran it through the hole to clean up the thread, same story. So I was wondering if anyone with experience with this matters could help with the word of advice. At this point I ordered helical inserts set, which comes with a drill bit, tap, etc. but I'm not sure if that's the only and the best approach at this point. Thanks for your help.
One more question is whether the car is safe to drive without a mount in place should I take it to the shop?

I was also looking at the timesert kits which are supposed to be superior to Helicoil.
Do you think that just tapping it to the next size is a better solution? I can see that it's cheaper and perhaps easier. Also I'll need to see how big a bolt the mount can take.

i'd use a heli-coil because that's what i know works, but if there is a superior product out there, and it can be applied here, why not. a heli-coil will be more buff than using the same material the old threads used, via a re-tap.

good luck.

It looks like I'm going with helical insert, since I already ordered it. The timesert is better because it's a solid steel bushing which locks into place. However, it requires the flange which I cannot create there due to the diameter of the bottom hole. I also considered moving up to the 1/2"-20 bolt, but I'm afraid that the new thread wouldn't be strong enough due to the hole already being slightly bigger than the required hole for this size of a thread.
Anyway, thank you for your help. I'll let you know how it turns out. I hope I won't screw it up further.
