Motor Mount Advice?

I dont post much, but have been reading this form intently for years

Im looking for some motor mount advice. I've been reading up on my options, but find myself torn on the final decision and would like some additional opinions...

Just as background: My P5 is my daily driver, so I need it to be relatively comfortable... but am in the process of making it a little more than what its been (stock these past five years other than a SS and CAI). I'm reworking the suspension in the near future (BC Racing Coilovers and Racing Beat sway bars once I manage to find the time to get a hold of Ken to get it all ordered up) and am considering getting into the local AutoX scene on my days off.

I'm leaning towards replacing the MMs altogether (likely with the Medieval mounts), but am worried I should stay with something like the Corksport inserts for daily drivability.

I've seen a lot of opinions that the inserts are amazing for the money, but that the after market mounts are noticable in the performance arena and the Medieval mounts aren't too bad as far as cabin vibration...

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've got the 95 duro AWR rear in my MSP, I'll be replacing the front soon, and I have inserts in my side mount.. and the vibrations from the rear mount are a little intense for a DD. I would highly recommend the lower duro AWR mounts front and rear, and inserts in the sides.

FYI, coilovers are going to make your car's ride much less comfortable. As far as mounts, I would do inserts. I have RR Racing fronts, AWR sides, and the vibes are minimal. The benefits are awesome!

Thanks for the feedback!

So far it sounds like replacing front and rear with AWR or inserts, and really only inserts on the side mount...
I guess it would matter more if I was going for significant horsepower, but I'm staying NA and likely won't do any significant power upgrades anytime soon.
If the inserts are as noticeable a difference as everyone keeps saying, I might just save the money and stick with the stock hardware...

Anybody tried the Medieval mounts? They claim they have less vibration than everyone else, but I never trust what salesmen put out there...

I'm aware of how the coilovers will feel, hence "relatively comfortable." (hear ya)
Ordered the parts from Ken yesterday, so the suspension upgrade is a go...
I just don't want to exacerbate the comfort issues I'm already going to have with significant vibration from the motor mounts.

I was changing my oil last week & saw that my front mount is torn. I ordered the Medieval front so I'll post some reviews once it's in.

Medieval MMs FTW!!!.....I have the Front and Side in Currently, gonna be installing the Rear one when I get the 505 Intake Mani, and I ordered the Tranny MM, which should be on its way.......

I was previously running the AWRs front and Rear MM and the Side and Tranny Inserts. With the AWR I got crazy cabin vibrations to where the passengers in the back seats were getting a back massage. Don't get me wrong they hold the motor really well but the cabin vibrations I could do without.

When Medieval MMs came out I figured it was a cheap price compared to the AWRs so I gave it a shot and if I didn't like it then I would sell it.......I ended up selling the AWR Front MM. Just the Front MM alone killed a ton of the vibrations, so I ordered the rear, I mean if the front eliminates so much of the vibrations imagine what the rear would do.....but we all know the rear is a PITA so I got a hold of the Side one and that was a breeze to install, and it eliminated even more vibrations.....I have the Tranny mount on order also.

The Medieval MMs hold like the AWRs but have the cabin vibrations of the closest you would get to stock, very minimal.

Check out the review i did comparing the AWRs to the Medieval front and side MM.

Thanks for the continued contributions to this thread!
I really appreciate all the input from everyone.
I'm waiting on my new suspension at this point and likely won't do the motor mounts until that project is squared away, but want to have a plan so I can start shopping.

This has been really useful for me so far, so huge thanks to all of you who have helped enlighten me, and let's keep 'em coming! The more the merrier... I tend to over think things (analysis paralysis) unless I have a ton of information so I'm looking for as much as I can gather.

RaserX - looking forward to your comparison!

ZZZOOM - I'm staying N/A for the foreseeable future, but not staying stock... and I plan on pushing it pretty hard so I'm pretty sure I want to do all three however I end up going (and maybe the transmission mount too).

Wagonbacker9 - From what I've read, I have to agree... that's likely where I'll see the most improvement. Always nice to have my inexperienced opinion validated. Thanks!

25FConv - I had already read your write up on the front mount. It is one of the strong reasons I'm seriously considering the Medieval MMs. I had missed your write up on the side mount, though. Thanks for that one too! I really appreciate all the info!

Thanks again!

I guess it would be better if I said that if your other mounts are in great shape doing the side inserts will restrict movement pretty well. At least I would do those first. If need to replace your other mounts (like most of us have had to) you may as well go for a better aftermarket. have fun!

Yeah, I'm almost to 100K miles, so need the inserts on all of them at minimum... I haven' had a chance to inspect the mounts themselves very closely yet (I'll do that while I'm all over the car on jackstands for the suspension) so am not positive on the condition of the mounts. I definitely have a ton more wheel hop than I did several thousand miles ago, but some of that might be the *very* tired struts... I'm sure the mounts aren't broken, but not having gotten down there to see they could be all kinds of messed up... I push it pretty hard for a daily driver, but haven't managed to break anything... yet. Just wear and tear for the most part (which is why I'm still considering inserts).

Thanks yet again for your advice, and I certainly plan on having fun!

I'm putting my stock mounts back in this winter. I have the AWR mounts and the vibration is just ridiculous. I have to turn the AC off when I sit at lights or my car feels like it's going to shake itself apart. It sucks. The noise is terrible too, everyone hates riding in my car on the highway now. I'm getting really tired of people asking whats wrong with my engine.

The reduction in drivetrain lash is awesome but totally not worth the tradeoff in my opinion.

Hey you should look into the Medieval Motor mounts.......they are very comparable to stockers.....feel 90 times better than the AWRs.......but they hold like the AWRs. Most of the harmonics sit in the bushings....top it off they are pretty affordable.
