Most Stressful Job

I'm a 911 dispatcher. Most of the times it's just stupid people doing stupid things and they think you are there to fix their problems...but when the s*** hits the fan in this job it gets really stressful. Add to that a 12 hour rotating shift in a room with no windows....you get the idea.

IT work is a breeze once you realize everyone is a clueless, nonsensical babbling moron, and you adjust your attitude accordingly.

I feel like a teacher for the mentally disabled.

And I wouldn't call it stressful, you know you're sitting there scratching your nuts and browsing the web 2/3rds of the time.

And oh no, I gotta click a mouse or type a command, or explain what a browser is, how hardcore is that ;)

So true..or watch movies since the pc's you work on come w/ dvd drives. ;)

Damn IBM not giving us DVD drives LOL.........

Doing IT right now. Damn lazy people not reading their manuals.

I agree that IT is not that stressful, but being on call 24/7 can suck. Many a night I have had my sleep interupted to fix something mission critical. I work for a city so that entails all the police and city technology. But, it is easy sailing when you know your s***, and things work :)

Hahaha...I agree. People too lazy to read the documentation gets on my nerves too. I'm in IT as well, and agree that it is not the most stressful job. That would have to be the Medical field.

Im a case manager for mentally ill and or chemically dependent people. Can be quite stressful at times, especially when family members want you to fix there brother/daughter/husband/etc. and there is absolutely diddly squat u can do.

I'm a college student with constant breathing down my neck from family. always bickering, "open you books....go to class...raise your grades...study...what you wanna do wth your life" geeze  lol

for several summers i have worked at an episcopalian summer camp. i work with kids ages 7 to 15. we get paid next to nothing (i make 880 one summer, 1100 the next and 1400 the next, all before taxes)and we work 24hours a day for 6 days out of the week. i live in close proximity to the exact same 25 or 30 other people for the entire summer. you HAVE to learn to resolve all your differences or you won't make it a week. to me i think it's one of the hardest and selfless jobs anyone can do.

Stressful is going to college overtime, 23 hours, and still doing 40 hours a week as assistant manager at Circuit City. And unlike you IT guys we have to deal with dickheads face to face. And then in a few more semesters I get to go to med school and thats when you talk about real stress, at least thats what my dad makes it sound like.

i love how most of you people (note i say most) think that being in college or going to summer camp or whatever.

wait to you get a real job using the s*** you are studying, then talk about stress. am i stressed learning al anguage? yea, a bit.

but until Circuit City or your summer camp sends you to Iraq or Afghanistan to work there, your job isnt all that stressful or selfless. i dont think some little kid at camp shitting himself can get you killed.

i say this because i feel all the special agents for the governments, emergency services, and military have the most rewarding and honorable professions...as well as in a time of war - stressful.

im not saying this because i have been deployed, i said it long before...hell i joined TO get deployed. its just funny to see some opinions of peoples jobs here.

i work for frito lay and i get free potato chips, doritos and dip all the time

im stressed about getting fat, poor me

when i worked at home depot for two months that was stressfull, stupid people and their stupid f'in questions.

my new job is stressfull, Im responsible for the layout of major construction projects and supervision of the installation. I could cost my company hundreds of thousands.

Hey man, nobody's downplaying the role our servicemen overseas are playing. Yes they do have extremely stressful jobs. I do worry about three of my friends that have been sent to Iraq all the time. If I could do it I would to, but I was rejected by the army. Now I'm going to help people out another way. And it sure as heck is stressful man. I don't think anyone is comparing themselves to the brave people we have working to protect us and saying that they are more stressed. This is about right here and right now, and I sure as heck am stressed and tired, day in and day out. So relax dude, we(at least I do) give props to those people that are on the line for my security.

I worked for a Women clothing Store and all I can say is WOW!. I worked at a summer camp with New Yorks Most BAD ASS Kids. lol Now at UPS!. So yea, I've had some stressful jobs. Teaching/Retail/warehousing

the potential of being killed can make a person stressed, i agree, but i don't think that downplaying other peoples trials and tribulations of work is necessary. it's also a matter of how you handle stress - it affects people in different manners.

i'm in college right now, and it's difficult. the fact that i'm constantly reminded of the financial magnitude of my endeavors doesn't help. along with busting my ass not trying to survive my classes, but to do well, there's this constant voice in the back of my head saying "there isn't anything after this but the real world - don't **** up now and ruin the rest of your life by being some collegiate failure w/ a low-paying, dead end job. make something of yourself, and start doing it now".

im not uplaying our roles or downplaying others. but i love how people in this world have such a chicken little mentality. eveyrthing always has to be the worst. everyone has to have the best or worst of something in a conversation. its either my s*** is the worst or hardest (insert job, team, work, ANYTHING) or the best/easiest. its annoying

I'm a Fire Sergeant with a FD right outside of Atlanta. If you haven't noticed lately Atlanta has gotten quite violent. About two weeks ago me and my partner were first on scene of a 2 year old that was shot in the head from a home invasion, so yeah it can be stressful. When we have adult fatalities it's no big deal, people shot, stabbed, killed in accidents, fires, whatever, but those kids really get to you. This is my second child fatality since summer, with the other being a 5 year old I found while doing a primary search on a house fire. But I love my job, I work with great people, and we all take care of each other. Not too many jobs out there where your coworkers put themselves on the line for you every day, and could die doing so.

Then again I did web programming for 3 years and about pulled my hair out. So to each his own :)

Mp5racing21: Med school isn't so bad...you just have to sit down and study. (I need to stop stalking this board ^_^)

I would think that having to deal with a hundred teenagers a day would be pretty stressful.

On top of that most states require teachers to have a Masters these days and teachers only make in the high 30s to 40s. Kind of sucks to have to have a Masters and only make that much money.

People think that teachers have it easy because they have two months off in the summer, I do not agree.
