more than meets the eye...

Everyone with the rear sway bar clunk- I've been living with the clunk for awhile now, sort of waiting until Mazda came up with a good fix for it... but a few weeks back the clunk changed into a banging noise that was fairly severe sounding.

Put the car on a rack at my work and found a retaining nut had come loose so the sway bar/ control arm were hitting- if you have severe noise from the rear end, you might want to check out the connections down there.

Seems as though everyone with the clunk live in colder climates ???
I have never had the clunk, it doesnt get that cold in Birmingham, is there anyone local in the warmer climates that has the clunk. Also is there anuone out there that has the clunk with the yellow MP3 ? Mine is yellow, I think the poly bushings may be cracking if the car is driven to hard in cold climates, I have read alot of stories when it was cold, however since the summer has arrived the clunk stories have dropped off.
Either everyone got their car fixed and the clunk problem has been solved by Mazda (LOL) or the warm weather heats the bushings up enough so they have a little give....... ??????

i don't think climate is an issue. i'm in south louisiana where it's still hot for christmas and i'm on my 3rd set of bushings.

I had my clunk repaired a while back during the winter and it hasn't come back yet. I felt like it had a lot to do with the climate changes. It's either the bushing that shrinks and expands with the climate changes. Or it's the bar it self. I think it's the bushings.

i went to ntb to have them inspected since mazda doesn't admit this problem...and the guy told me coz our sway bars and tokico stuff are upgraded...so stock bushing and end links won't last long...i personally kinda believe what he said...and i'll try to buy a exactly match to replace them...

people in warmer weather have it as well.

back bushings are not poly-urethane..they are plain rubber.

Bushings may wear....but they should last longer then 3 days. My last set lasted 700 kms.

It is more related to how bumpy the roads are that you are driving on. Smooth roads....the bushings are not getting worked as hard and last longer. Bumpy roads, they won't last long at all.
