Newbie wondering is there ways to increase performace other than universal turbo kits and a cold air intake , I'm looking for 450-560hp with more than 350tq I was considering a b18c type r swap and build and turbo from there but idk , would it fit in a protege 5 or I'm dreaming way out of the box lol open to suggestions

is this a troll post or something? you're not going to get anywhere near that without some serious engine work and some kind of forced induction... universal turbo kit?... I have never heard of anyone using one of those on a protege... i guess a b18 or any other engine swap is possible but very expensive and time consuming. definitely more trouble than it's worth. if you're serious about it, use the search function on the forum and do A LOT of research. you'll need a built engine, a good ems, someone to tune it, and a good chunk of money and time...

If you're really Gona put a Honda motor and trams go with a k20. If you have fabrication skills then it won't be horribly expensive. But to pay or the motor and trams for both of those motors it's Gona cost more than to properly build your motor and boost it

And btw how does the protege have a universal turbo kit and the Honda doesn't?

Reasonable expectations!! I'll help you get there... just need about $30k up front to get you started with a protege :)

450-500hp?!! oh surrrre, when you find a way to cram a Windsor 351 under the hood.....better yet, rip out the rear seats & rear end and fabricate something similar to that white VW GTi R32 I've seen with the V12 stuffed in the back... $100K later...
(search Youtube for VW GTi with V12 )

So only v8s can make over 400 whp?

I would suggest a jet engine.

+1.

Definitely going to be a difficult swap, but doable. Search the forums for Protege5 - F18 swap and you'll find some good starting points. Don't forget to change your spark plugs to a cooler heat range after the swap.

I know someone that swapped a 420a into his rx7 his new setup is an srt4 block with 420a head and yes those are fwd motors mounted transverse in a rwd car. Pretty sure a b18 swap on a protege would be easier than doing that. Everything would have to be custom made nothing is impossible with free time and a welder. Not to mention someone swapped a d16 into a protege already

I did however just see that he wants 350 ftlbs torque which only b18 I've seen make that much torque was making 514 whp. If you're Gona spend the time and money to do a swap like this do a 4g63. It's literally gods gift for a good import motor for boost and can make 400 whp with bone stock internals. Literally nothing done but upgraded turbo exhaust and tune
