Fun to do when sitting on stocks!

so I know my current fav would fit (Montegi MR121 black, 16 X 7 +40 with Pirelli Cinturato P7 195/45-16)

but what about this setup?

Enkei EDR9 17 X 7 +45 with 195/40-17?

Tire rack warns of aggresive fitment for clearence and fender issues, but looking at measurements, stocks tire width is @ 7.3" and this setup would go to 7.7". Hight would go from 23" to 23.1"

Doesn't sound like much of an issue to me, but maybe I'm missing something?

This is a cool tool I found to get these numbers

Should mention I worry about unsprung wheel weight on these two replacmenet candidates too.

The Montegi's come in @ 15.6 lbs while the Enkei's are @ 20.6 lbs

PHP:
Both are very very mildy aggressive offsets and sizes for the Mz2

17's look way to big for the 2, I'd stick with 16's myself. What are you lowered on? Or what do you plan being lowered on?

Yeah scratch the Montegi's...too heavy and I agree, staying with 16's when I finaly upgrade.

As far as springs, I'm stock right now with no immediate plans to do anything about it, although I have been following that corksport setup thread......

yeah I was just looking at discount tire options...here's a list of "Replacmeent options (for tires at least)

Stock 185/15 15X6 +36
W - 7.3
H - 23

(all assumed on Montegi MR121 +40 16X7), width and hieght of tire
195/45-16 -
W - 7.7
H - 22.9

195/50-16 -
W - 7.7
H - 23.7

205/45-16 -
W - 8.1
H - 23.2

215/40-16 -
W - 8.5
H - 22.8

215/45-16 -
W - 8.5
H - 23.6

aggressive will be 16x8 +40 or lower offset

16x7 is still sunk and what most people want. if you want to play it safe stick with that size. if you want to push boundaries, get 8" wide and a low offset :-) but only if you are lowering on coilovers. springs aren't low enough and will just end up blowing your oem struts eventually.

do it right the first time, buy coilovers!

In terms of those tire sizes lsted, what would your choice be? more tire on the road = more traction handeling with less mpg right?

Not necessarily, a super sticky summer only 195 series tire is going to have more traction than say, a 205 series run of the mill all season. There's alot of variables when it comes to tires, grip and fuel economy.

Realistically, you probably won't see TOO much of a difference in fuel economy from just tires alone. Chances are your driving will change which will effect fuel economy at a larger scale than anything else.
