No, that wasn't me, I guess you're thinking of someone else.

Just put back on the stock mid-pipe and bpv. Tommorow going to put the stock turbo inlet back on and uninstall the AP. Getting her ready for the dealership visit. Should I worry about having the Denso's in there? I still have the stock spark plugs, but not sure if that's really necessary.

Step colder plugs are not good for stock setup anyway. Very easy to foul them. That would probably be a red flag if you foul one of them going to the dealer and their diagnostic equipment picks that up. Put the stock plugs in, IMHO. Don't be surprised if their equipment also picks up your ECU reflash back to stock. They should be able to tell the date and time of each change to ECU. Maybe they won't check that if they do not have some reason to think you've modded the car.

Followed your advice and replaced the stock plugs. Unfortunately I'll still have the SRI on there when I take it in cause I was stupid and threw the OEM away about a year ago. I told the guy about it straight up on the phone and he didn't seem too concerned. I'm bringing it in on wednesday, yikes! I'm totally stressed out about it, I hope this dealer is cool. Open Road in Morristown NJ, if anyone has any experience with them let me know now, I can still always take it back to where I purchased the car, but it's like an hour and a half away.

Ok, at this point I apologize to anyone who's sick of this thread but I feel like I'm going crazy. The smoking problem has seemed to subside since I removed all of my aftermarket products except for the SRI. Sunday night I removed the corksport TP and the Turbosmart BPV. Monday morning I still had smoke when I started it up which eventually went away. Last night I took out the COBB tip, put the stock plugs back in and uninstalled the AP, leaving only the SRI and today I've had zero smoke issues. First question, would adding the 2nd catalytic converter back in mask the smoke and smell? Or could any of those mods been causing the problem to begin with? I'm still going to take it into the dealer tomorrow but I'm worried that they'll say "Looks fine to us, bye" then I reinstall my mods and I start smoking again...

i have the EXACT same problem on my 07 SPD3. When i idle after i boost i get tons of smoke. I just brought it to dealership and said they couldnt get it to smoke at all. Im assuming if it was a bad turbo it would do it all the time. I just read up a little about the PTP fix but i couldnt find a write up on how to exactly do it. Anyone have a how to on it? also i seemed to drop PSI a few pounds from 19-16 lately since i put my FMIC on. That hopefully is just a leak somewhere and doesnt mean the turbo is ******!

fmic will cause some boost drop, and that ptp pill is a joke. but if you really want a how to here ya go, pull breather line off valve cover, insert pill into valve cover, reattach breather line. done

yea i kinda figured it was a longshot for it to work, but when the dealer says its has to be stock the get it covered under warranty, the amount of work to achieve that is scary. its worth a shot, and also maybe a catch can will help it out

I can say it worked for me...I guess...but, I didn't smoke before going catless. I believe prevention is the key here. Once oil has got around the turbo seals and coked to the shaft because of the heat, it's gonna smoke no matter what you do. I use 5 or 10 W 40 synthetic oil and change it out ever 3500 miles as well. So far, so good.

I'm trying to figure a way to easily pressure test the crankcase for vac/pressure at idle.

ill let you know how mine turns out, my car is at the dealer for this very problem right now. since the swap to 5w40 it smokes intermittantly. dealer claims they werent able to get it to smoke, so i sent them pics and vid of it smoking. Mazda rep will be at the dealer tomorrow. heres a vid of my car doing its thing. car was fully warmed up and driven for over a half hr, I had just come back and was backing into the driveway when i noticed it

the smoking before the swap was about the same, but thicker white. sorry for the bad BB quality

I have an appointment for turbo replacement next Tuesday.

Yeah it pretty much looks the same as mine, except mine was much worse the first couple of days. The last couple of days it's only done it during start up. So that tends to make me think its not the turbo seals, but actually something leaking into the engine. It smells bad and I often see moisture on the inside of the tip, Buuut from what I can tell my coolant levels have not gone down.

Dropped the car off this morning, dealer looked at it and basically told me everything looks fine, which is what I was figuring would happen. But they seemed nice, told me that if it happens again to not hesitate in bringing it back. I'm going to pick it up in a few, I will laugh my ass off if it starts smoking when I start it up, and of course by now all the service guys have gone home. I asked this question before and no one answered. Will putting the 2nd catalytic converter back on the car mask the smoke that I was seeing before? Because since I've put everything back to stock the problem seems to have subsided somewhat.

Yes the cats will mask it considerably. My smoke is working its way through the oem exhaust. I can't imagine how much smoke it would be if I had a high flow or catless exhaust

looks like yours?
Mine the same, but much less. So far less. Found a factory nearby which will rebalance it and replace seals and bearings for 250$. Or thinking about getting some of remanufactured turbos from Japan for 400-450$.

well, they cant replicate it, and video/picture evidence is not enough. picking it up tonight and putting all my stuff back in this weekend
