Moonroof loud noise

2010 GT, 28k miles, still on warranty
Moonroof operates without any issues, opens, closes fine.
However, there is a funny engine noise, pretty loud but only when i open it for venting or closing when it is fully retracted, closing from venting or fully opening is all fine, normal quiet engine noise.
Does anybody experiences the same? Or should i go to the dealer

By "engine", did you mean the gasoline engine or the motor of the moonroof?
Sorry, it seems strange to me.

Then, my guess is something is obstructing the movement.
Try to remove it and lubricate the moving parts with WD-40.
While you are at it, make sure all the drain holes are not blocked.

Took it to the dealer, they are replacing the electric motor.
