ALso make sure yur going to keep yur car...I boguht an $800 hood for my P5, but now I decided I dont want/need it for my MSP...
You are crazy. That vent is just what the MSP needs. It runs a million times hotter than an N/A p5!

probably, but the car was a gift from my parents for doing well in high school. Now i go to the University of Michigan and i am prelaw. I will be in law school next year so i think my parents realize that i will be fine on my own after law school.

man...high school and riding a msp...
you guys are from the US huh? I have a few cousins there..same thing.

am I jealous? yes. Because I got bought my P5 new..and still paying for it (confused)
oh yeah, i'm 26 years old..

eh, you think it makes THAT much of a difference? Its not fitting the MSP right and I cant figure it out. It was PERFECT on the P5, but when I threw it on the MSP it sits uber high on the drivers side and wont go down no matter what I adjust...

yeah, i notcied a lot of heat pouring out of the hood when i had it on(see the ripples above the vent)

It's all about the priorities.... I afford what I do by not spending tons of money elsewhere. All my extra money goes into cars and computers (w/ related equipment). However, I've recently started a graphic and multimedia design company on the side so my car took a back burner so I can buy more/better equipment. :)

And I guess working in the industry that sells the parts helps too. :)

some people get a lucky break and their parents buy them a car.
If my parents offered me an MSP for my bday, i'd take it in a heartbeat!! all the more money I can spend on modding the car :)

You can't slam people for accepting a gift from their parents, cuz you would if your parents offered it to you. (who the hell doesn't accept a sweet gift?) You can be jealous, I'm jealous of those people - but I'll have the pride of having bought my own car when I'm done paying her off. It's a trade off, pride or $15,000 saved
(mswerd) I am very lucky that my parents have payed for my college in full, and my parents would have helped me some with my car, and insurance, but I figured you gotta cut the umbilical cord some day. My pride costs $17K, I guess. Doh. It is a very nice feeling to have a car that is all yours though. A friend of mine was riding in my car soon after I bought it, and she commented on how my parents were very nice to have got me such a car, it was kinda funny when I told her I payed for it all myself.

I went with a 4yr loan to save money in the long run(I almost tried to do 3yr, but thank god I was talked out of doing that), but now I'm starting to think having short term money from lower monthly payments would be worth more to me than the money saved in the long term, if that makes any sense.

I quit drinking a while ago, which is actually saving me a lot of money. Money is not the only reason I quit, but it is a nice bonus. I can easily spend $50+ a night at a bar, and I have done it so many times. I'm also moving in with a roomate next month, which should save me about $140/month. Woohoo. I'll get those mods some day. Exhaust, smic, boost guages/controller, ems... Now if I could just quit being lazy, learn how to cook, and stop eating out all the time. Hundreds of dollars for food every month is not the way to go.

"For everything else there's Mastercard"

This reminds me of something I forgot to say earlier. I don't have a girlfriend... that also helps with being able to afford things for the car. :-D

You guys pay me 75$ an hour to fix ur cars. I approx. get a 1/3 of that, the shop gets the other 2/3's.

I make almost everything myself. I would never, ever buy something that would only take time to make.

With the addition of the MPI tuner and a new set of slicks I have under 2k. into it. I will more than likely be running 12's with the addition of the slicks. With the MPI tuner I hope to be able to run over 12 psi. If I can mimick 505zoom and run 17-18 psi on the stock turbo I should be able get some decent numbers.

25$ AN HOUR? wow..I wonder how much the canadians mechanics get..

Not every tech. (Technician, not mechanic....I don't work at j/l), get pays the same. I have a record going that I have never not been able to fix a cars problem (knock on wood). That along with being cross trained (Vw and Mazda) also helps alot.

The only part I bought new was a drop-in filter and autoX gear(helmet, harness, tires). All the mods on my DX were used. I save my money and rarely blow it on car parts unless I can find them for a good deal.

this is where our DX's differ.. mine is a money pit.. a big one..

brian, it helps being VW trained because your taught to expect anything. Car won't start? oh that must be because the passenger A/C vent is blocked!
