Hey everyone,

Well I just picked up a brand new 2010 mazdaspeed 3. I don't know much about these cars, and I was wondering what are some recommendations for moding a daily driver. And what the order would be in what parts to put on the car first.

I'm thinking kind of just basic modding like I did to my MSP i just had Perrin 3" tbe, Perrin SRI, Perrin FMIC, 10psi, hsk ssqv, and a unichip.

So what do you all recommend?
1. What's exhaust to buy
2. What intakes to buy both cai and sir
3. What intercooler? ( or is the stock one fine for what I'm doing )
- and if I do buy one do I get a front mount or a top mount?
4. Manuel boost controller? How many psi does the MS3 run stock and what can I turn up the PSI up to?
5. BPV/BOV. ( on my MSP I relocated my maf so I could VTA, does this car have to remain recalculated )
6. Do I need any type of chip/ tune/ management system for the basic mods I am doing?

That's all I can think of for now... I'm just curious what you alls recommendations would be!

Thanks

Well for the exhaust you have a few, Ultimate Racing(UR),or Corksport. Those are both really nice. I would recommend the UR TBE if you go that way sounds really nice. As for the intake i have a Cp-E nano and I love it but the best deal out there is the corksport combo SRI w/TIP. It is about 250. The intercooler, most people go with a TMIC for this gen because the FMIC's remove the factory Crash Bar. So ETS 3.25, ********** TMIC. Those are both good from what I have heard. And there are always choices when it comes to BPV or BOV. I have a turbosmart Dual Port. It does 50/50. And you will eventually need to get a standback or a AP(when this comes out) for a tune but there arent any chips out or anything that I know of. Hope that answered your questions.

Also, don't forget that RMM! I think that is one of the best first mods you can do hands down. As far as boost control, the stock K04 is only efficient up to 20 psi..I would recommend getting something like a multi display gauge to monitor your PID's or if you want to do more, like dataloging..etc, the I would recommend a DashDaq. There's some people that run almost fully bolted without a tune.. all I can say is that I would'nt do that since it wouldn't be taking full advantage of your mods. For things like going VTA, upping your boost, and doing a downpipe/ FMIC combo I would recomend a tune.. Oh and congrats on your purchase!

Rmm? What does that stand for? Along with PID... also, how many psi, does our car run stock?
Thanks for the help, I can't wait to start modding

corksport Turbo inlet+intake combo

CBE doesnt do anything except sound

UR test pipe

i'm running manual boost controller at 17psi, just hit load cut however, need an apt boost cut defender, on their site for 75 bux

rear motor mount is a must, i love my CP-E 75 duro

short throw shifter makes it feel so much better (jbarone plate, or the full shifter replacement by twm, (dont get twm's shifter plate, it sucks))

ETS top mount intercooler is nice and prob don't need front mount for just ur DD, it helps keep engine knock at bay

either forge BPV or HKS with recirc valve (VTA will spit flames out ur exhaust, cool for once around the block <- yeah i did that wanted to know how it would sound, not much better

don't need a tune for this but you definitely won't get max gains, if u tune u dont need an MBC or the boost cut defender. tuning for us sucks right now, pay a s*** load for standback or flash ur ecu and have to ship it out when u need to go to the dealer for warranty work to reflash it back to stock (annoying)

Rmm=rear motor mount... duh, thanks. I'll look those up right now, are they easy to change? The Rmm on my msp was a beeeeotch.

Loving all this input, thanks guys, keep it coming

I guess I am on the only one still reppin MS CAI! I agree with Speedy 100%. No need for the FMIC and get a RMM or at least the CS inserts which is the route I took. I got the Cobb IP and am waiting to change out DP and exhaust when (or if) Cobb ever releases a new AP for the Gen2s. I will have to say the J-Speed SSP has worked like a champ and I have had that on for 7 months now. One last thing I would recommed, new plugs!
