Anybody getting any flack from the service deptartment for mods? I'd like to do springs, swaybars, and the CS skidplate. I can't imagine there'd be any issues if something goes wrong wih the car but the guy who just bought my miata said he was given a hard time over a rear swaybar on one of his cars.

Best thing to do would be to talk to the service manager at your local dealership where you plan to take your 2 for any repairs or warranty work. Typically as long as your not doing anything super drastic, there usually isn't problems. In the case of the guy that bought your Miata, if the car was taken to the dealer for a problem that was an expensive warranty repair, and that sway bar was in the the particular system that failied, I can see why he was given a hard time. The other thing is to use your judgement. A rear sway bar can be installed in about 10 minutes on a 2. Same for removal.

Per law they would have to prove that the mod itself caused any damage, ie water sucked up by CAI. But springs and exhaust would not void an engine warranty by themselves. But having an 02 sensor code on for 2 years and running rich and blowing your rings would void the warrantey etc.

i did H&R lowering springs the service tech said kool thats about it..springs swaybars are not really altering the car enough to void the warranty most dealers will overlook such mods..its when you start opening up engines and transmissions for performance mods that they will get pissy about.i have done lots of mods on new cars, trucks, motorcycles you get to know what is acceptable and whats not..my harley was 6months old when i stripped it down to frame and engine and pretty much changed everything including wiring mods my dealer loved it, and did the service it was in for and i went on my way..if you have a picky dealer or service rep find another theres lots to choose from..

My dealer installed my ACT clutch kit for me. Likewise my front sway bar.... And relubricated the bushings twice for free when they were still squeaking.

When you mention Corksport and the service manager says "Oh yea. Do they have anything that'll make that 2 any faster?" you know you've got a tweak friendly dealer ;-)

Which dealer do you go to?
