I don't know how many people are into VWs, but a lot of my friends are Dub fanatics & I used to be on VWvortex before I joined here. VW released pics of the upcoming MkV GTI & at first I thought it just looked like a more expensive Si hatchback.

that was until I saw this...

All I can say is WOW! Obviously, it's a Photoshop, but it's a damn good one. I know how insane some of the custom modded VWs can get, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually ends up doing their GTI like this. I really like those wheels too. They look a lot like black Rota Actions:

I think I might just have to go with black wheels now instead of gold.

i think the modded one looks ugly as hell. but then again, ive never liked modded vws. i always think they look better stock.

How are you guys not liking that car! Modded? That's the most unmodded car I've seen. It has only the necessary changes. Lowered, wheels, fascia. Solid color paint, no tacky wings or emblems. No door handles.

I also prefer the R32 body style, but once this one hits the streets I'm sure it will grow on everyone.

WTF?

Does that say VR6T? (omg) HOLY SH!T!!!!

It looks like a more expensive VW too! The R32 just came out and now theres a design change?

i cant wait til honda releases the new crx. its supposed to weight the same as the 89-91 crx's but come in two options. a standard one with about 100hp, and then a si model with 150hp. im sure you've all seen the prototype pics, but heres one if you havent:

" In Japan the CRX will exist in two forms: an entry-level model with a 1.0-litre DOHC VTEC triple producing appoximately 74 kW (99 hp) (the engine derived from the block used in Honda's Insight hybrid coupe), and a hardcore 1.6-litre DOHC four cylinder engine (also with VTEC) generating 110-115 kW (about 150 hp). Not incredible, until you realise that the target weight for the four-cylinder coupe is said to cut under 800 kg (about 1920 lbs). That's 200 kg (440 lbs) less than the Mini and 175 kg (385 lbs) lighter than an MR2. " - from www.89crx.com

That looks pretty sweet, but what are the chances of that coming to the US. It would compete directly with the Si hatch & the Japanese companies never let that happen.

Doubtful that the concept CRX will get here, like above, it would just compete to closley with the Civic Si. In 89 the civic wasn't as much of a "sport compact" as it is now, anyone who drove the old 1.6L can attest to that, the CRX was today's SIR Civic.

Would be sweet though, why can't they just form the body panels for the SiR or even the insight to look like this?

I'm all about getting one of the new Diesel MkV Golfs. It's going to have 140HP and 236lb ft torque running off good old Diesel. Not to mention it will be mated up to the 6spd manual. Then just pop in a fueling box and you'll be spanking all kinds of cars.

did i hear Diesel?

Diesel was that?

one word....... Bullydog

Yep, VW has a new 2.0 TDI coming out along with the existing 1.9. It will be worth its weight alone for gas mileage.

I knew that looked alot like the insight!! Now the question is why can't they just form the body panels like this and maybe they'd sell a couple.

I'm not a hippie by any stretch, but why do environmentally friendly cars have to be fugly? The insight is trash, the Prius follows right behind it. The only one that's close is the Civic Hybrid, because they left the looks alone, so at least you get contemporary styling, but they still f**ked up and put the worst wheels on it.

Try slapping that engine in the regular Si body, knock about $2500 off the price and you'll sell some.
