Congratulations to whoever stole my valve covers. I know that you are proud of your ability to unscrew a valve cap at 4 locations on one vehicle without being noticed, my hat's off to you!!

What a moron!!! Has anyone else had there valve caps stolen?? I guess I need locks on my valves now!!! What a crazy world.

and got cool blue one that fit
the car for $2.47

I got news for you guys.............I did catch the little creep in the act, but probably would have rather had him take them............Now i have to look out for some more serious damage (i.e. spray-paint, being keyed, them ramming their BMX's into it)..........I think i should have just let them have them, just like some of you guys, i use to do the same thing when i was a kid.............and right now, if i wanted more chromies that bad, i would just hit the local mall or supermarket and find 4 more.................but why would i steal or buy more, just so the same kids come around and steal em again????????? If they take em, they take em........just don't mess with anything else on my car.!!!!!!!!!

My advice is to find a wrench that fits the cap tighten them down enough that you can't get them off with your hands, but not too much to wreck the valve. Then make sure you keep the wrench in your car in case you need to put air in your tires some time.

Update -I called my local Mazda dealer's serivce/parts department, who didn't even know what the MP3 was. She tried to convince me that I meant the Protege 5. Finally all she came up with for parts for the MP3 were the center caps. She finally told me to try Discount Auto Parts to find chrome valve covers!!! I wonder if this is a sign of future trouble with service parts for our beloved car. I will call Racing Hart to see if they are any help.

yea, mine got stolen too
but my roommate works at a gas station and they have a bin full of chrome covers so he got me a bunch, they are a little smaller than the originals, but its very hard to notice.

UPDATE!!
I got some $2.47 blue caps. I decied this would be my first mod. After installing my first mod I noticed a better performance out my engine giving me more 10 more horsepower in the mid-hi RPM area!!!! Actually, they look pretty rice so I'll replace them quickly with the original type if/when I find them.

damn...and I thought this only happens in New York City... the second day I parked the car, I had my valve caps stolen... not once but twice... s****... then the second week... some dumb lil b**** kicked my car and left a dent in the rear driver-side door...****!!! too bad I don't know who it is... I swear why do jealous people do such stupid things???
