millenia 2.5 driver side (left) halfshaft - housing mounted to trans impossble!!!

so of course the axle (hub side) was a b!*$# to slide out but with a big hammer it finally gave. my issue is that the tripod joint housing (axle end going into the trans) is stuck like chuck. i have tried prying it out with everything i have. i am not new to turning wrenches in any way nor am i new to mazdas ( i have had 626, mp3, 323, 929, rx7, you name it), and i have repaired all of my vehicles from axles to complete overhauls. before i remove the trans completely i was hoping to hear from another tech or anyone for that matter who has faced a similar issue for any suggestions or tips.
