Mileage for a Mazda Protege 5?

I think this would be pretty cool to have. Maybe a sticky of some sort showing a log of the past 3 trips and your mpg average. For those of you wanting to maximize the mpg you can get out of your vehicle, maybe even include what mods have been done on certain trips to see if any change are reflected in mpg gains or losses.

Here are certain tips I know of from personal experience in increasing mileage:

1) Do not have heavy feet. This seems to be the most effective one. More you put out, the more gas you waste.

2) Use the right gas and don't drive on a full tank.

3) Remove roof racks/fancy shpanshy stuff to reduce drag

4) ECU tune

5) Underdrive pullies

6) Remove excess weight in vehicle

7) Tire treads can affect mpg (ex. increase friction)

Anyways, what are you guys getting currently in terms of mpg and what have you done to increase your mpg?

last summer was my last long trip, i drove to dallas, cruise set to 75, ac high got ~35 mpg....and i was stock.....

If you don't drive on a full tank, how are you supposed to record your mileage? The gas gauge is way to inaccurate for such things. 26mpg city when it's cold, 28mpg city when it's warm, 32mpg hwy avg.

Well mpg is an average of trips. For the trips when you're not needing to recalculate your mpg you don't need a full tank, as that is increased weight.

i get 30+ on a regular basis and one day on the way back to school i got 40.1 mpg and it wasnt even that warm yet!! thats why u all need a header back exhaust system!

4) ECU tune - what exactly is the ECU Tune?

Usually get 22 to 24MPG in city with autostick. Last fill up was exactly 23.63.
Just yesterday found that one of my rims was bent so replaced all wheels. I'm wondering if this will make any difference.

Sorry, terminology from my ownership of a Ford Explorer. The Computer system is called an ECU, and a "tune" is when you change the settings of it to optimize either performance or mileage.

i only average 25 miles per gallon mixxed city and highway with mid grade gas reg and premium is worst millage.... thats with header back exaust, cai, pulleys

I just drove from Houston, Tx to Denver Colorado and I am averaging 390-400 to the full tank. But i do have a heavy foot. :/
