Hi there cx-9 fans

I opened this new thread hoping that we people from the Middle east countries can benefit from each others ideas regarding some variations of our cars that is from US, Canada, Australia, Europe....minor yet major glitches that some of you try to fix or change on their so loved cars.

I know there have been many threads concerning the speed limiter at 160 km and the infamous over speed beep.....(deadhorse

With the intentions of helping each other i would ask you guys and girls to try 2 solve this issues.

thank you

Hello Daniluta,
Welcome! This site is quite interesting & informative. I bought a red CX-9 last year in Saudi, but sold the car before i left the country last two month ago. I'm now in Brunei, and currently waiting for the car dealer to handover my new Allunium Silver colour CX-9. I don't have to worry anymore about speed beep or speed cut at 160km/h. I wish you and others the best of luck in getting rid the nuisance sound or speed limit.

Well not really..my wife is orginally from tyre, lebanon. She chose the CX-9. We frequent Lebanon its a nice country and the food is so delicous and the women...thats why i married Lebanese..hehehe!

Thank you semrz1 and sentravq

The CX-9 is not just a family car(me myself not having one yet), i believe is a blend for everyone who is at that time in his life where he wanna settle down but still feels young and sporty.

The CX-9 does not take away your youth, it encourages you and empowers you 2 go further. This is what made me buy one....Damn those dealers....it takes ages to deliver mine.......hope by Christmas i will get it

Here in the Middle East there are 3 versions as follows:

CX-9.......CX-9 GT and the CX-9 GTX

Also the Middle Eastern versions do not come equipped with Navigator, dvd player, back up camera and also blind spot monitoring system........although i am not sure about last one...i will have 2 double check with my dealer.

Thank you again for Your interest and help!

Best Regards

Kifetch,

Yea i feel the same way about the CX-9, before settling down; I use to modify cars. I had a Sentra Spec V with a VQ engine in it and right now I have a CWP MS3. When i was in the market for a family car, there was only one SUV i wanted and that was a Infiniti FX however when my wife and I caught eye of the CX-9, we fell in love. It offered more than the fx and was a bargain. we got our GT in the low 30s. Daniluta I hope everything goes well with your purchase and i have always dreamed of going to UAE, my wife says its the playground of the rich in the middle east. How is it down there by the way?

United Arab Emirates....is a dream come true.....is like when u think of USA and the American Dream...in UAE almost everything is possible....but as times go by it will start 2 change. I have been living here in Abu Dhabi the capital for almost 1 year...and things are looking pretty good.

I am flying all around the world but here you do not pay taxes.the more you work the more u gain...

I am not living in a paradise, i am conscious that is just the quiet befeore the storm.

but for now thank God things are in place.

You are most welcome to visit and have fun here in UAE.
Regards

I would love to visit there. My parents are going to visit there in the in july. My wife and I however are going to Borcay, Phillipines during spring; I am orginally from there and to me and wifey, its paradise. However i would mind going to UAE maybe i can see a lambo and ferrari whizz by...lol!

killed the beep

Finally a breakthrough!!

The 120 km/h beep can be simply turned off. The only disadvantage is that with killing it both the sound of the signal signs and the the door opening sound are killed both. This is on Middle East versions. This is what the mazda service manager told me. He agreed to do it for me at no cost.

So it can be done!! Just keep pushing them They have 2 do it it is just laziness. Also if you want 2 install a genuine mazda part like the rear view camera or the navigation system it can be done because they are genuine parts even if in this region the car does not come fully loaded. It always depends on the service manager, but they have 2 do it, this is what the liaison contract with mazda international is. The parts have 2 be original in order not 2 lose the warranty.

By the way tomorrow i get my beauty!

So Good luck!!

Hi Daniluta,

You must be all excited to have your hands on the CX-9 tomorrow, CX-9 is a beauty and I'm seriously considering going for it but at present am trying to go through all the pros and cons and this website has been very informative. The absence of a Navigation, rear cameras and a DVD system in the Middle East model is really forcing me to look at other options like a Pathfinder/Fortuner which has most of these options for almost the same price.

do help me with these questions...

1) Do we get the Blind Spot Monitoring system in the Middle East versions ?

2) Which color and version have you opted for ?

When i visited the show room they told me that the rear and front sensors would come at a additional cost of AED 1300. Given the size of the vehicle i think the rear and front sensors would be a minimum requirement.Having a Rear Camera, Navigation and a DVD system would be really cool!! Are you planning to have any of these installed ? Any ideas where can you get the above( Navigation, Rear Cameras, DVD) Mazda Genuine System ?

Good Luck and God Bless.

re kingz

hi there

I am really happy!!! I got my CX-9 yesterday. This car is a jewel, amazing to drive also to handle.

Here is how it goes in Middle East (i Bought mine in Abu Dhabi the capital of UAE). For this versions blind spot monitoring does not exist nor the rearview camera or the navigation system.

The parking sensor i installed cost 1200 dirhams from mazda dealer, they discounted 100 dhs because the car was new and i made the inssurance with them.

The rearview camera u can find in USA on a site. Just search the Forum. Mazda dealer agreed 2 install it for me if i will buy it. is composed of the camera that goes in the back and a new mirror that has a mini lcd integrated.it is cool.

Also you can install navigation if you desire.

The price at this moment for the 2009 model which i got is the best deal on the market. I looked at Nissan murano the new one 2009, the new 2009 Pathfinder and also at Toyota Landcruiser (which here is not abordable because of the extreme price).Regarding the Pathfinder, my advice is to doulbe think again, there have been many cases here that complain about the new engine, that is to sensitive 2 many problems in which mazda i believe it has the price /quality/consumption ratio of one of the best.

This is The Middle East where we can not have all the minor accessories USA , Canada or Australia have. The fact is that those could be installed after wards at still lower price.

My Mazda Is the GTX, the maximum options i can get.
The color i chose is Crystal White Pearl, is one of the best thinking that here in the summer the temperatures exceed 50 C, and it also makes the car look bigger.

I Hope that my arguments enlighteen you for your choice.

Regards.

Hi Daniluta,

Congragulations!! Hope you are enjoying your new ride.

The reviews on the MAZDA Navigation are not very good and meanwhile I had a chance to check some navigation and rear camera units in "Yellow Hat" in Time Square Dubai, they had a good collection of rear view camera's, Navigation and DVD systems. They also have a good collection of Car Accessories.

I'm now 99% for the CX-9 and am just waiting for my wife to come back, to finalize.

White Pearl's really nice and I also liked the ebony mica...

By the way did you have a rust proofing done ? and did they turn off the beep for the 120 Km/h speed.

Hope you would continue posting on your experiences with the CX9 as well as the Dealers...

Thanks & Drive Safe.

hi kingz
the rustproofing is 1200 dhs and it takes a day 2 compleat. It consists of applying multiple layers of special coating underneath the car.

I am short of finance but I am planing 2 do it sometime in February as soon as I get the chance.
the ebony mica is also nice but quite difficult to maintain due 2 sand and dust.
also what I wanted 2 remind u if u get any colour ask for a can or spray of touch up paint for minor scratches. I did not get it but in case it rises a problem the dealer agreed to fix anything.
Can u tell me more about the back up cameras u find out?
thank you!
yes I turned of the beep for 120.
It drives amazing I pusher it up this morning till 160 and it still has power. Too bad is limited, but for me is enough. I try to be on the safety side!

Regards!

Hi Daniluta,
What information would you want ? on cameras or on location of the shop?
Just a brief, you could get a good rear view camera fixed for around AED 1500and also they have a whole package of entertainment system with LCD screens behind the seats and/or mounted on the top! However this is on the costlier side costing anywhere between 2.5K to 5K. I think that there are some special offers going on! you could also browse their website http://www.yellowhat.ae/

Check with the dealer, whether fixing these from outside will void the warranty ? The "yellow hat" sales guys told me that it should not void the warranty because they do not cut any wires, they would just plug that in. Anyways its better to check.

Hope this helps, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask, will help if i know the answers :)
Regards, Kingz.
