This thread is dedicated to dealer reviews. Feel free to share your experiences with the rest of the MI members. This includes purchase, service work, warranty work, pricing, etc. Please include:

-Dealer Name
-Location (City)
-Reason for Dealer Work
-Solution
-Cost (if not warranty related)
-Person(s) that you talked to

If this thread actually takes off, maybe we can sticky it on the main page.

Just stuck and edited title to reflect geography (no sense people posting that have no bearing on us).

If it crashes and burns, I'll unstick it.

-Dealer Name - Orion B. Hayes
-Location (City) - Kalamazoo
-Reason for Dealer Work - car pulling to the left
-Solution - currently no solution found. Actually they first told me it was the tires and when I doubted that they assured me it was the tires. So I bought new tires and the car stills pulls left. Then they said that the alignment was off. I told them that I had an alignment done (w/ the correct specs.) already. They tested it and said that the alignment numbers didn't match their specs and I had it aligned, yet the car still pulls left.
-Cost (if not warranty related) - 60 something dollars for an alignment I didn't need.
-Person(s) that you talked to - Bill. He is a really nice guy but they are quick to jump to conclusions w/o backing up their diagnosis.

-Dealer Name - Sesi Mazda
-Location (City) Ypsilanti
-Reason for Dealer Work - Front end damage, intake manifold recall, sunroof noise
-Solution replaced front end, new intake manifold, butterflies, sunroof motor, guides, rails
-Cost (if not warranty related) $1512 (damage+deductible) , about $2500 in warranty repairs

Rear ended someone coming out of the Mt. Holly parking lot, about $3500 in damage. Took it to Sesi, because the insurance company recommended them. Very helpful, and explained what they were doing, called me every week giving me an update. I had the MP3 front end put on, and they had no trouble putting it on. Fitment was good and paint quality was as good as I've seen.

As for the warranty work, I've had no problems. They will order the parts for me, then have me come in at a later date. Never said anything about my intake, exhaust, or any of the other aftermarket parts on my car, and have never denied me service work. The only time that service took awhile was the intake manifold, and this was before the recall was issued, sometime back in 2004. The car was in the shop for about 3 days, but I haven't had any trouble since. All the repairs have been good, and have not had to take the car back for repeat service on anything.

Is there an actual recall for the intake butterfly screws? And will they do anything before the screws actually come out?

Also for the post a few up. I just recently noticed a pulling to the left. I haven't done anything about it besides ensuring the tire pressures are right. I did put new, wider and lower profile tires on about 3,000 miles ago.

There is one that just came out in Dec or Jan. When I had mine fixed it was long before the recall came out, but I have no problems with it right now. There should be a post somewhere with details. If you didnt get a recall letter in the mail a few months ago, you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

Whatever happened with all of that? I read your blog awhile back and it sounded like a truckload of BS.

No one would return my calls, emails, or letters. Since I kept records of EVERYTHING, I made several packets with receipt copies, my log, photos, and a letter and sent it out to key individuals. Then I threatened to send the rest of the packets to Mazda NA, BB, etc. if they didn't at least contact me by a certain date. They didn't contact me in time, but they lucked out and I forgot to drop the packages off at FedEx that night. When I got home there was a check in the mail for a good portion of my expenses. Not all of it was covered, but it wasn't worth pursuing the rest.

Basically everything that I went through with that dealerhip completely turned me off of Mazda. I know it's a little unfair to Mazda, but I feel that they should screen the people that represent them.

Very true. I'll probably send them something just to let them know what happened, but I'm not getting involved anymore. My warranty is up (actually happy about that) and I'll probably be going German next time around.

Dont blame I really like that new GTI.

Good luck with that. Just so you know, German cars break down more than any Japanese car. And it costs more to fix them when they do. Talk to anybody who's owned a VW and you'll get plenty of horror stories.

-Troy, Mi
-Bought new car, speaker removal, windshield damage
-Traded in my civic that was worth maybe 6kish b/c of mods they gave me 8500 for it, also let me come back a week later and pull out the whole sterio. ALSO, They noticed a crack on my windshield, toldem i got it like a day after i bought the car, filled it on the spot.
-100 bucks to get the sterio removed and have the stock honda sterio put back.

This dealer was very friendly and very willing to help with me, I told them what my price was and at first they didnt know if they could get it so they called around to find another dealer who would. and did.

Haha, sales people are always nice. My salesperson was super cool and would always come over and talk to me while I waited to get my car back from service. Just wait until you have a problem with the car, though. Make sure you take it somewhere else to get serviced. That's a completely different department.

-Ralph Thayer Mazda
-Livonia, MI
-Bought My Speed6S there/Dave Stetson (very nice and helpfull)
-Synthetic Oil/Filter change (Quick and very friendly)
I'll have to dig up the exact prices for the purchase (~$29,000) and the oil change(~$40).

-Suburban Mazda / Bill Cook mazda
-Farmington Hills, MI
-Oil change, noisy rear door lock and climate fan... and another visit for a CEL
-Replaced rear door lock and climate fan. Pulled CEL code and followed TSB/tech procedure for repair
-$31 for oil chnage and rest was warranty
-Don't remember service advisors

I had good professional service from them. Better than my sales experience... which is why I bought mine in Florida over Christmas and drove it up to MI. We'll see how they are once the mods start.
