I have
Miata 1999 4wheel disks as we all know.
need to know caliper piston , material type.
Stock OEM calipers
are they
Stainless steel SST (nickel-steel)
or
Plain steel. ( the kind that rust)
or
chrome plated steel.

I heard a rumor that they were SST.

or has someone , anyone ever removed their piston/s and
observed any rust or pitting. any at all?
chrome plated pistons rust too, due to abuse , it cause the
chrome to peal up around the pit is very obvious and bad.

thanks to anyone with a clue.

I have removed 130k mile piston before. Only rusting was a tiny bit inside the recess where the piston makes contact to the pad
