MF Official Mazda of the Month (December)

Clean car. Looks like you have a lot of work in it. How many HPDE's have you won?

Come for a ride along. You will be frightened.
200 lbs lighter, similar wheel HP, lower yaw moment, longer power band, higher redline.
I'm sure it 200 ft/lbs of torque would be quite an advantage from a dig (if he could get traction), but that wasn't the scenario.

At Summit Raceway, I routinely walked the Corvette guys on the straights and occasionally tire-walled them on the first turn.

I'm curious about "yaw moment" and also what you mean by "tire-walling" Corvettes.

I know others have said it but, you **** Z06s?

Are Corvettes more common than RX8s where you live?

Corvettes are easily seduced when you first meet them. And yes, there are a lot more vettes than 8's. It makes it that much easier. You can **** one then move on to the next without ever having to see the same one twice.

(Get your mind out of the gutter! I'm talking about racing!.............on a track of course. Street racing is illegal and wrong.)

Yeah, they are pretty much everywhere here. Phoenix is chock full of people with disposable income. 'Vettes, Lambos, GTs, Ferrari. There is a guy in my neighborhood with some crazy Lambo (I don't know all the models). He couldn't be more than 25. His license plate reads "GOOGLED". I guess I'm the poor guy in Ahwatukee!

BTW - Before all you 'Vette lovers get your panties in a wad:
1) It is a fine and powerful car
2) Its always the driver. Unfortunately, the typical 'Vette pilot is just a mash-n-go. I'm quite certain that if I had to contend with a Z06 on the Jefferson with a competent driver, I would be in trouble.

How do you "win" HPDE?

Yaw moment - the ease by which a car will rotate around its center of gravity.
I was being facetious about the tire-walling.
What I meant was I've had some 'Vettes follow me into a corner a little too hot and watched the resulting off-track excursion in my mirror.
I've never intentionally caused an accident.
The problem with the entrance into the first turn at Summit (on the Jefferson) was that it was populated by trees and a hidden piece of jersey wall. I can't say that any 'Vettes I saw tagged that.
When I would do FaTT events in my Miata, I'd end up in the grass there because at night it looks a lot deeper.

BTW #1: I noticed no one stepped up to defend the Mitsus. Just the 'Vettes. Lol.
BTW #2: I am going to go back and retract my previous braggadocio. You folks that read it know it was there. I just don't feel like defending myself against every yokel that reads "Car and Driver".

I read super street. And according to them, a civic can kick your butt in the twistys. Defend that!

:) j/k

I'm sure there is one out there that can.
Actually, I've been having a snap-oversteer issue lately and I haven't been able to dial it out.
It coincided with the new tires, but they are exactly like the old tires.
I'm gonna go out and drive like an idiot this afternoon before the rain comes.
Hopefully, I won't get plowed into by a bank robber like that poor guy in the Supra yesterday.

HPDE = High Performance Driver Education
Its not a timed event.

Corvettes have a higher yaw moment because of the distance of the axles to the CG and the placement of the motor. Its not just wheel base (the 8 and the C6 are within an inch of each other, IIRC), but it all ties in.
Its not the deciding factor in a turn by any means, but it does dictate, to some extent, what happens when the rear gets light.

Nothing short of sheer beauty...

I want a bigger version of that first picture for a background...
