Megasquirt put together, just need wiring diagram.

Hey I've been reading about this megaquirt stuff. Pretty fascinating. I found a thread on probetalk about an recent group buy that is already over. The interesting part is that they said they have a base map for FS engines. Not sure if you already have a decent base map to work off, but you might try contacting someone on there(Ryanpzz i guess)

These units will come with a base map to get you started, but due to the differences found among all our engines, no two maps will be 100% identical. We will give you something to get you started, but you must do you own tuning. A wideband is not necessary, it just speeds the process. Just because we give you a base map to use, does not mean you can load it up and start boosting with it or take it on a track like experienceif you do so, you may pay the price by not following directions.

that DIY stuff looks pretty cool! I'd work on the turbo timer, but I am a total noob w/ electronics.
 
Very nice to see someone else doing it. I did a Mega Squirt about 3 months ago on a boosted P5. it's alot of work, but well worth it.
You running stock injectors or are you upgrading them?

Both the IEBC and the TT are done and awaiting wiring into the car. I just need a boost solenoid for the IEBC from the wreckers. I will post results in a separate thread once they are installed.

subscribes due to cool name. someone should put a bunch of these together and sell them once they get one to control timing and fuel and extra injectors, etc. I would buy one if its proven and safe.
 
I'm considering switching from DSM AFC to this. Sounds like a lot of work, but very interesting stuff, and lots of information out there on it.

Since the DSM AFC won't be able to do timing completely, I was considering this also. As another option, I was thinking about using the DSM AFC and then the Megasquirt timing unit. Not sure that I want to play around with my AFC now that the car is running nicely.

same thought here....
can the originator of this thread do us all a HUGE favor and:
#1 - list out what items you purchased and why
#2 - what soldering, board wiring, etc did you have to do (to get where you are now)
#3 - possibly take pictures of what you have
#4 - possibly photoshop over those pictures to give a slight wire diagram of the outputs and inputs on your board? I think we should start our own megasquirt thread.
This is a huge favor to ask but it would be a big help to this community

For the price I would not mind buying some components and fooling around with it.

If there is no info from DSM over the next week about the FTC unit I will make the plunge and purchase the MS unit with timinig control.

Ok, I bought the complete kit for $140...honestly I do not know if it is the one with timing control (if not I don't see what else I could buy to make it that); the only other things I have purchased are a coolant temp sensor and IAT. It seems, however, that the coolant sensor is going to be difficult to tap in on my car, there isn't enough room where the stock one is to get a "T" fitting, and besides, the threads are different sizes.

To get where I am now you need to solder many resistors, diodes, chips to a PCB(printed circuit board). My cousin, who has no experience in soldering on a PCB did it just fine (I did a few of the resistors just so I could say I did...but these intricate things I tend to leave to my cousin, I don't trust myself).

And...that is where I am now. I will try to work on the pictures, otherwise you can go to http://www.msefi.com/msinfo/manual/mass.htm there are a couple pictures of the PCB down the page.

And, it looks to be this weekend that my cousin and I should get started...I know I said that last time, but when I called my cousin last weekend he was out of town and said "ooops, I forgot."

Subscribing to this thread seeing how I heard a little bit about this Sunday. He even suggested it but I had no clue. This coming from a guy with quite the boosted stang!!

I'm pretty sure I just need the page that lists what the wires are that are coming off of the ECU, if anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it...can't wait to test this thing out.

Check out diyautotune.com they sell ready made Megasquirts for a really reasonable price. They have even made a plug and play version for the Miata.

A friend of mine builds them too and gets great economy and 700hp on his turboed truck.
 
its a do it yourself full ECU, you wire it up, download one of the 4 softwares to run it upload your desired firmware and go, you will have to inter some data
Engine constanst
like engine size, injector size, after that you work with
accel deccl enrichments
warm up enrichments
VE table
if you run spark there is also spark tables
AFR target tables
after that there are many other goodies you can play with!!

you can download the free software and open up windows to get yourself formalize with it,

there is this other really nice program called megalogveiwer where you can see all your data from your datalogs, you can then tell it what afr tagets you want and it will auto adjust your ve table from the data log!!!
 
If you want more info go onto probetalk I linked the engine and electronics forum. There is literrally a ton of information about MS over there. Megasquirt can control fuel and spark can be set up with a map sensor so we can get rid of the maf. different injectors, basically you can put any part on your car as long as you know the range in which that sepcific sensor or part works and it will be compatible. Wideband O2 is standard and you can use a screen plugged into it to show gauges and infinite readings. Basically just check it out. You can get them preassembled cheap! basically just need to know the pinouts to your ECU and you can figure out the rest.
