Mechanical vs Electrical Boost Gauges

(mspblack)
Im gonna get a boost gauge VERY soon but i see that there are mechanical and electrical. I dont know anything about them so --- what is the difference???? is one better than the other??? which one is more efficient??? FEEL FREE TO POST

Get electrical. Most mechanical send the liquid to the guage to read it and if you search you can read about another members bad experience. They can leak and it will get all in side of your car. For a boost guage I don't know if it will actually matter though. I would still get electrical.

an mbc (manual boost controller) uses a valve system to control the boost, an electronic boost controller uses an electronic solenoid valve, i think they may also use a stepper motor in some cases. This is why you almost always have no spike with an ebc compared to a mbc. A manual is as it says manual, you have to actually use a screw in most cases to adjust the boost level, but you can't set it below 'factory' settings of the actuator spring or the wastegate spring. An electronic gives you the comfort of sitting in your cab and adjusting boost to any preset level you like. You can run the electronic solenoid inline for actuator-type wastegates, or T it for external. Hope that helps..

I have electrical C2 series autometer gauges. They are really good, but I know a lot of people that are happy with their mechanical gauges. They paid a lot less too. If you have the extra cash, go elec. if not go mech.

My boost gauge is all vacuum no liquid and my boost controll is manual and it doesn't spike steady at 9-10 psi and easy to install cost me like $75.00 and well worthy it

i say mechanical because it's cheaper and will do the same thing, but really it's just preference. a leak will just cause air to be released into the cabin, nothing to worry about. it's fuel pressure, oil pressure, gauges like that which don't belong in the cabin if they're mechanical.
