I think most people who've had the flip key like that it sticks out farther because it keeps their keys from hitting the column and making noise.
you can get a flip key for all mazda 3's '04 and up, but they do not come standard on any in the US
except for the, as yet, unreleased MS3.
That picture is not from a mazdaspeed 3, it's just of a 3 with a flip key (as that's what people asked for pictures of). The wheels on the vents are one of those things that some other countries got that never made it over to the US. I don't know why, they just do that sometimes. Also please note that the speedometer is in kph, not mph.
