Mazdaspeed3 : Immune to Roadrage?

Pretty funny incident on my way home from work today. It's rainy and there's the typical folks going 5-15mph under the speed limit on the highway. One of the folks I passed along my way did one of those moves where there is 200ft in front of them to make a lane change...but they speed up to get that psychological effect that you actually cut them off. Well I passed this toolbag, and realized the MS3 is pretty immune to roadragers.

While I cruised along with traffic, he began to bob and weave to get back in front of me:
His first move, the bright lights. MS3 counters with: Auto-dim mirror! (cabpatch)
Second move, try to accelerate around tight traffic. MS3 counters with: normal acceleration with traffic (lol2)
Third move, try and kill me by ramming my front bumper. MS3 counters with: amazing brakes and a casual lane change. (eekdance)
Fourth move, well there was no forth move, when the idiot cut me off, he put himself into the slowest lane of traffic. MS3 counters with: an experienced driver that knows that lane was the slowest on that section of highway, superior traction control and the knowledge to get the hell away from self-destructive individuals. (wrc)

Thank you, Mazdaspeed3 for getting me home safely so I can enjoy a beer and Monday night football. (couch) The world is a battlefield, and this vehicle can handle it all!

Very nice story, and carefully worded as well

I always enjoy knowing the traffic habits enough to be in the "good" lane. However, I know I can be one of those impatient people when I can't catch a break

You all know, those times when one lane is going faster and way ahead, and you change only to find the lane you just left has now caught that wave to free-flow. And you go back and forth enough that you've actually lost football fields of distance to where you might have been had you stayed in place

I don't cut ppl off when this happens, but changing lanes so frequently could be a type of hazardous driving.

The car's power and handling does help in many situations I've found, but I don't think I've ever been able to avoid things the way I could on my old gixxer

Now that was a worthwhile read! Great story! LOL, too funny and so true!

I call that "Office Space traffic." Only thing missing is the old lady with the walker.

Thats so funny! and true because I experience this everyday to and from work..im so glad I got rid of the gutless civic si sedan. Nice read man.

an average young adult driver behind the wheel with some knowledge of auto makers is familiar with mazdaspeed badge, I've learned it many times over and over again from Civics, Audis, BMWs and such tried to get a head start next to me. It's foolish cuzz really this car doesn't have Race me written all over it so I never fall for their traps not on public roads anyway. Just shows these folks are aware of us, as long as they recognize the little mazda 3 on steroids, I am comfortable with that :))

Great story & I mean it lol, I've yet to come into a road rage situation with my mazdaspeed 3. But when it happens it will counter everything :) Well said!

i've gotten pulled over 3 times and received 2 tickets since april. maybe mt po-po invisibility generator is defective. is there a tsb for that?
lol I believe your 'Cloaking Device' is defective, but it is covered under your 3/36 'Bumper to Bumper' warranty.

stock shift knobs, but i do have an ssp. i think the new radar guns can pick that up.. or it could be the fact that I CAN'T GET THIS CAR TO DRIVE SLOWLY!

edit: more truthfully: i can't get myself to drive this car slowly.

Its very tough I know

Just saw the other day in the news that the scion tc is one of the most ticketted cars (speeding) in the usa. Those college chicks always gotta be speeding to their next sorority pillow fight

Yeah the MS3 is great car for frustrating the hell out of people with road rage for sure. They aren’t expecting the little car to pull out with V8 like power on command. Getting up parallel beside them and then easing into 3 or 4th gear and watching the look of despair on their faces is priceless.
