MAZDASPEED HEADERS for P5!!!!

US$916.16-HA. Screw that. You can get headers for a few hundred $.

i saw that a while back, i am not spending a grand for 8-12 horse power. maybe for 80-120 but not for 8-12. if you get this, let us know how it is. peace

i want to get headers so i can have the good ole headers intake exhaust set up. but i hear people with headers on our car have nothing but problems an they throw cel lights.. does anyone have a solution?

well it has alot to do with the factory o2 sensor in the car .. it comes preset for a certain level of whatever (cant think of the words) and when you change out your headders .. they are generally much larger pipes in diameter and so that allows more of the (whatever) the o2 sensor reads off of and that normally throws an incompatability to the computer and acts just as it would if it was broken so the cel light would be thrown ..... help me out guys i dont think i am explaining it correctly .. but IMO about the MSP aftermarket headders .. from the picture shown they look to be built out of 100%top quality and built very well so that is one great thing .. but yeah i agree that you would gain the same results from the other manufacturers

Those do look nice. Gotta love all stainless headers. Ceramic headers just don't have enough bling to them. But then again, not everyone looks for bling in the engine bay.

WTF 612 USD for a stupid muffler!!!!!!! you can get a full mandrel catback exhaust for cheaper with a better muffler INSTALLED. that site is a rip off, i wouldn't pay 912USD even if that header could do my homework and shine my car at the same time

Here's the deal on the CEL. There are two O2 sensors on our cars. One before the first cat, and one immediately after. The computer uses the first one to adjust A/F ratios and watches the second to monitor cat efficiency. If the 1st O2 goes bad for some reason, then the 2nd O2 provides A/F data to the computer, and the CEL goes on to show you that something failed. The 2nd O2 also works after the car is warm as a second monitor of A/F and the computer interpolates the data between the two to come up with the best mixture for emissions and load requirements.

If you eliminate the primary cat, then you eleminate the difference in A/F between the 2 sensors and the ECU thinks that one or both of them aren't working properly and throws a CEL. There are 02 eliminators out there that use the first 02 in the end of the header, and an electronic device (usually a fixed value resistance and a capacitor) to fool the ECU into thinking that there is still a 2nd O2 sensor present. Those don't always work because the computer wants to see CHANGING values in relation to the adjustments it's constantly making to the mixture. The CEL code it will usually throw for that is "secondary O2 slow to respond".

If you use a shorty header that retains both O2's, then you won't generate the codes because no matter what the mixture is set at by the ECU, the ECU sees a changing and different A/F after the cat with the second O2. Besides, you can still make power that way. I did with mine

travler- what would you charge to make and ship me a header? i'm pretty interested, espeascily if its street legal and makes power

truthfull I would even pay $1000 for the header if it works.
I understand traveller has a great idea for his header, but I really dont care about retaining the primary cat. I would be happy with any header that has O2 sensor holes, EGR port, wipes out the primary cat, and does not throw a CEL light. (of course a performace increase).

Has anyone actually tried the O2 "simulator" resister trick on our cars? It would be interesting to hear some results so we know FOR SURE how our car reacts. I am with traveller and believe that the only real workaround to that problem would be to put the 2nd o2 sensor behind the secondary cat... But then again...???
