Hey guys and gals, I am new here!! I drove by my Mazda dealer the other day and saw a beautiful spicy orange car sitting in front, turns out my girlfriend thinks it's nice too.. I need more info on it.

1. I have read about premium gas being a requirement for this vehicle, why? and how important is it?

2. I was wondering about whether or not it was equipped with adequate sound deadening material or would I have to add some myself?

3. What prices in Canadian dollars, did you payfor your vehicle, off the lot? Please specify provincial\ good and services taxes and the interest rate you got, this is the most important, as I want ammunition to go in to the dealer with.

Thanks a ton,

Bzz

Hey Bzz, I was waiting for someone knowledgeable to come along and answer your questions, but since they haven't, I'll try:

1) Manufacturers suggested fuel type is very important, the higher octane reqs for this car are due to the change in combustion temp. due to the extra air forced into the cylinders by the turbocharger (or something...)

2) "Sound deadening" on this vehicle is quite good for a non-luxury class automobile (until you open the windows!)

3) The price of this auto (the Mazdaspeed Protege SHOULD be the same list price from dealer to dealer, I think you can find this out no Canadiandriver.com (along with a glowing review of this fine car)

In my opinion (as a Protege 5 owner for a year and a half now) - buy it you won't be disappointed (unless you could have bought an RX-8)

You need higher octane gas because of the turbocharger.

I'm happy with the sound deadening. Easy to have a conversation with people in the backseat and me in the front.

I paid less than MSRP, which is 26995CAD, but not much.

Logan, as I asked you in the other thread.. how much?? I need ammo! I want to get the best price I can.. the salesman quoted me $633 a month on 60 month purchase at 6.5%.. $100 less monthly if I go on a lease, if you want to email me, please do!! I need all the help I can get...

Hey Bzz,
I'm paying 590 a month, 60 months, I think 6.5%.
I used the $600 grad rebate, cost plus 4% for the car, almost half off freight and almost half off PDE.
add in the useless extra charges like paint.
I put some money down, um $2000 I think, I don't remember now!
