Mazdaspeed 6 Parts "Wish List" Thread *UPDATED*

I don't know about you guys but I'd love a turbo-back exhaust. Maybe some real tips for it too, unlike the fake ones stuck into the back end of my MS6...(the only part of my car I do not like)
True. have to figure out if you wanna paint the rings body color and get adctual tips or have inner and outer tips(haven't a clue how that would look).

On Page 221 of Modified Mag, GT Spec is mentioning a manifold for the Mazdaspeed 6. When checking their website for other uses, I did not see any information regarding this. Thought someone may be interested in following up on this with GT Spec ( www.gtspec.com ).

I am getting the Mazdaspeed Short Shifter sometime in the next couple weeks (I hope it helps me fix my missing the up-shift to 3rd all the time).

I am curious, have any of you guys heard about an AEM intake for the speed6? Somone in another forum is claiming that AEM has just released one. If so, anyone have a link to someone selling it?

Update of my wish list / plan (once parts are out there).

Intake - Mainly so I can hear it
Exhaust - hope to open up throttle response, and get some power gains
Short Shift - Long throws are starting to bug me.
Hood - Stock hood is SOOO HEAVY... someone please make us a lightweight hood
Summer Wheels - as soon as the sun comes out again in vancouver, I can't go back to those ugly stock wheels, but I do want my summer tires back.

Lightweight Flywheel - When my clutch goes (too expensive of an install before that).

anyone know if the Mazdaspeed one=Marked up AEM?

Rainman,

The Mazdaspeed coilovers just slapped the MPS 6 name under the same part # as the standard 6's.

This tends to make me believe that any current aftermarket spring/coilover setup would work on the MPS 6.

If your willing to gamble, see if you can find a set of ebiach sportlines on sale from another member used. (Avoid the standard progressive ones).

The only problem I could see if that the rear shock on the MPS 6 is pretty crazy looking, which means it could be double valved and all sorts of fancy things...thus reducing its longevity could be quite expensive.

I was told the shocks are single valve.

I'd like to start w/ a set of coilovers and a carbon hood (same style as factory) I'd have it painted. This car needs to shed about 500lbs Im already looking. :) Oh and some non "altezza" taillights

there are shiny black ones from the n/a 6. You try those yet?

Nope they don't have red lens. Bet a local member will sell his 1st born to trade you their reds ;)

Once we finish a few backorders we will be looking for a Speed6 Donor car. We are looking at producing a FMIC,DP and a few other pieces.

great to hear. I can imagine something cool will come soon for the MS6 from you guys.

My wishlist would be:

-Bigger anti-sway bars.
-Lower ride height with the same ride quality as stock.
-Wider tires and wheels that would improve the contact patch area but not make the car look ricey and would decrease some unsprung weight.

Basically, I would like to make the car nimbler and more aggresive looking. The car is a more than decent handler from the factory, but could stand some improvement. Increased horsepower can come after the above in the form of FMIC, more boost, less restrictive exhaust etc., only if it wouldn't compromise the stock refinement. No buzz bomb exhaust for me!

TT

I actually just put my car on the lift, had some people over at CRD take a look at the exhaust and they are making me a custom exhaust and intake later on this week ill post a video/pics once its done. The guys who took a look at it said they thought at first it was going to be hard to do but he said it looked pretty easy after getting it on the lift. So hopefully this weekend ill be rumbling around with a new custom exhaust and intake.

No, it will not improve it. Typically the maximum air pressure in the car is near where the intercooler inlets are on the MS6, based on vehicle aerodynamics. The only other area that has greater pressure is near the windshield, but this is not feasible.

yeah.... not sure.. I need a better photo to work from I think, but this getts the idea out there I guess.

Would a large hood scoop improve performance over the ram-air system that the hood has now for the intercooler?

What about taking a tip from muscle cars and trying a raised cowl hood...Where air is allowed in at the end of the hood...at the bottom of the windshield...Isn't that a strong pressure area to pull in cold air?

People say no, but only one way to find out is try it. Thats how alot of things were created. I think a smaller scoop(Mach I shaker) would fit the car better than the subie one. subies body lines make the scoop feel at home. The legacy one would also be a nice one to have custom made. Darker car would make it even more blended in.

I agree with you, about the Exhaust tips on the Speed 6, they should have made those into real tips, hopefully there will be a Cat back system that can address this. I would also like to see K&N make a drop in filter and an induction cone filter kit for the Speed 6. help allow the car to breath better,
Oh and a dynoflash would be awesome, to help unleash the already awesome power.

OK for anyone interested this is the part number for the K&N drop in panel filter
33-2278, same as 2.3L mazda 6
$63.64 (Incl Tax) @ Advanced Discount Auto Parts
I shall be ordering one in the next few weeks.
Anyone know where to get it from cheaper?

have you looked at the underside of your hood? the I/C is off center so if you had a hood scoop or a hood cut out it would be off center on the hood. FMIC is deffinately the best way to go....there is a lot of room in front of the radiator if you take out that lil plastic 5mph bumper guard....but i dont even know if you can get that junk off
