Since I am planning on leasing it while I am finishing my program, I am not overly concerned about getting it at rock bottom price. Now I'm not saying that I am a fan of getting gouged, but I will call this car the "company car" for tax purposes and get to write off most of it anyway.
Usually, when I get a car, I find out what all the numbers are and then offer them a price/lease payment that has a $1000-1500 cushion built in so that they can eat too. If they say anything other than "yes" I walk out the door. That is how I got my MSP. I made them an offer and they refused. I walked out telling them that I was going to head across the street to the Mitsubishi dealership, which I did right in front of them. They called me back the next day and then the following day...I didn't bother to answer. I only went back when they left a message saying that they would give me the price that I asked for + extended warranty + Toyo winters on rims + tint at no extra charge. You gotta go when you want a car, not when you need a car.
