Woo Hoo!

I heard its Turbo V6 280hp, AWD.

Its going to be different depending on the region u live in. I think theinfo I have is from japan, not that sure.

240 Huh? 20 more than the V6?

I guess this makes more sense than the 280 b/c that would beat up the RX-8 in HP.

I still would sport it! :D

The MazdaSpeed6 will be very similar (in terms of both looks & specs) to the MPS concept introduced at the '02 Paris International autoshow. That vehicle has a turboed 2.3l that makes 285hp and is AWD.

A production MazdaSpeed6 will hit Europe in calendar year 2005 (and I would guess Japan too). However, it's not coming to N. America. For the N. American market, any MazdaSpeed after the MazdaSpeed Miata is pure speculation at this point.

as usual (jerkit)

I thought Mazdaspeed of North America was different then Mazdaspeed in Japan. Hence the MSP and MSM being strictly North American cars. I don't know how this relates to the production of MS6, but I'd bet they'll bring it here when/if it is made. Oh and 240 hp seems kind of weak, freaking Altima SE still beats it by 10 horses.

Yes, you're right, MazdaSpeed is different in Japan. I know some of the differences between the Japanese and N. American MazdaSpeeds but the relationships are very complicated and has a long history too. As such, I'm not confident enough about the real story myself to even talk about it.

But I can say this. The Tokyo Auto Salon from two months ago had MazdaSpeed versions of the 3, 6, 2, and RX-8. But the MazdaSpeed6 at that Tokyo Auto Salon is different to the MPS Concept (which is the real MazdaSpeed6). The one at that Japanese autoshow was primarily appearance things like grille, wings, gfx, etc..., and even those appearance parts were different than the MPS Concept (which again is the real MazdaSpeed6). So this is the complexity of the relationship I'm talking about here.

The bottomline though is like I said before - in N. America, any MazdaSpeed after the MazdaSpeed Miata is just speculation at this point.

Mazda NA is a bit of a wrong name. It really is Mazda USA. I'm from Canada so it may just be that it's coming here and not the US, like the Toyota Echo hatchback we get and the MR2 we don't. The guys from the dealer (not sales folks) I was talking to were *pretty* excited

err... a 20+ hp turbo... that doesnt seem retarded for anyone??... Its 280... i cite my source in a day or two.. i forgot where i found it... It doesnt really MATTER if has more hp than an RX-8 cause the MS RX-8 will beat in handling and power...

u guys can go to
www.media.mazda.com for pics or info. sign up for the english one, unless u can read Japanese

yes i also heard that is 280 turbo awd and seems very nice but you should see the new acura tl a-spec is 300 hp with out turbo and seems more nice better than the bmw m5 concept

Wow guys...motortrend's march issue has the article. It's a 2.3L turbo Mazda 6 featuring AWD (sourced from the euro-markets awd M6). Every piece (except for the body kit) is already in production in other mazda products. The turbo is the same used on the MSM. They are going to using a small turbo and maxxing it out to keep people (MSP owners) from turning the boost up higher. If the turbo is already pumping out 20psi and is only capable of 22psi then you've pretty much got to do some serious work to your car to make pop. Also, this vehicle WILL feature forged internals and a completely different ECU than a M6 ECU...this one will be made specifically for the MS6. Expect the car to be fast, but not blistering. I'd expect performance around stock 350Z times. I'd expect cost near $30K I'd say $28K without options would be fair to assume.

write this down and when ti comes out (which it will) see how accurate I was.

This is from C&D about the Mazdaspeed 6.

"Mazda will be making Mazdaspeed sports versions of all its new model, including the Mazda 3, RX-8, and the Mazda 6. The 280-hp, 2.3 liter turbo four-cylinder engine is expecto to reach production (at least for the Japanese market) early in 2005. The 6 is fitted with a front air dam and rear spoiler, revised shocks and springs, a sports muffler, and 18-inch alloys with 225/40R-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE01 tires. Mazda says, however, that it has plans to sell these parts only in Japan for the time being."

The picture shows a blue mazda 6 wagon with a mesh grille and white 6-spoke rims.

Motor Trend
"We wish Mazda had thrown more ponies into the powertrain (or perhaps just lower gear ratios), but the extra punch comes along with the Mazdaspeed version in the works for next year"
Whelllll

I am correct:

and to quote consumerguide.com

"News A racy MazdaSpeed 6 is expected in mid to late 2004, though it's not yet confirmed. Aimed at the young "tuner car" crowd, it's likely to be a 4-cyl sedan with more power than stock, plus handling-oriented suspension, special interior trim, "aero" body addenda, rear spoiler, and likely big wheels and tires. Mazda should release full details soon, so keep checking back with us. There had been talk of a tall-body 6-based wagon to counter the Nissan Murano and other sporty crossovers, but this now looks doubtful even though Mazda as a whole has lately moved back into the black after several years of heavy red ink."
