Mazdaspeed 3 T-shirt?

Im stealing this from someone's sig and I can't recall whose.

What about the design that was just the outline of the car.... and then under it it could say "zoom zoom bitches!"

To answer questions/concerns so far...

Moultese- I was planning for a t-shirt with a logo on the front pocket area (with or without an actual pocket, I personally prefer with pocket, but that's another issue). And one of the designs above on the back.

Meicalnissyen- sorry, man. If you can't tell that's a donkey (ass) by now, I just can't help you. And WTF did you google, dude? Does not convey "ass" in any way whatsoever. Sorry. Just my opinion, there- looks like some sort of angry badger/werewolf hybrid. As for the wheels, well, you have to do something with them. When he did a generic blank wheel in the first batch, people wanted to see actual wheel designs, so Craig put wheels in. I like the design of the wheels he chose, simply because they're not garishly ornate & offer a chance to do the "painted caliper" effect on the shirt. We just can't do a separate t-shirt with each person's wheels on it, so we had to settle on something. Folks seemed to like those wheels in the last batch, so they kind of "won."

Remember- the final design will likely be a red MS3 on either black or heather or charcoal grey. People already expressed that they preferred dark, neutral colors.

If we had huge support for this (60-80+ interestred), we could do 2 different shirts. But we're going to have to narrow it down to one design & color combo for production since it is a one-time deal.

I just hope folks won't be too upset if their #1 choice doesn't win out.

Bill,
not really upset, guess I sounded that way, just finished dealing with teenager issues when I saw the finalists. apology extended

We all can tell it is a Ass by now, NOT the point WE have been staring at it for a week. The point is whether the corvette guy, seeing it for 3 seconds while walking by at publix gets it.

And really, would not you like to convey a sense of POWER while hauling ass

to answer your other question ,
simple; "mule clip art" bam craigs image can be found if you type 'donkey clip art' it is a flipped b&w version of a shutterstock image on page 8 of that search

The wheel issue

I think there is a certain "this is my car" mentality when you have this shirt on in public. that feeling would reach more people with stock wheels
just look at the debate in the rim section
I was actually artistically cool with the hubless version on some of the designs

Black shirts are back and I am lovin it

silver logo on black shirt for me #13 design

Hmm... the more I look at that the more it seems a bit crowded. Is it possible to put a little space between the car and the zoom zoom and maybe between zoom zoom and bitches? I want people to be able to read it from far away without issue. :D

I, for one, won't be dissapointed if my #1 choice isn't the "chosen one." I like all the designs and would glady sport any of them. When the shirts are made, I'd really prefer not to have a pocket on mine.

my votes for 12 and 15

i also say go with the stock rims if you cant decide on rims. more people have stock rims and they should default if you cant decide

Just FYI guys, you run the risk of violating copyright laws. As a general rule, logos, slogans, body designs, they're all protected. If you attempt to sell these for a profit, you're liable for infringement.

I'm not a lawyer, but I am a designer that has dealt with these situations before. This may have been mentioned in the thread already, I havent read it all, just wanted to put out a warning.

I do appreciate the warning. I have passed the same concerns on to the designer who is doing these. The body designs themselves can't easily be protected, but you are correct about the logos, emblems, etc. I will be selling these at cost (including shipping & packaging) and it will be a one-time offer, not to be repeated. Hoping that will be enough to keep things cool.

I hate BMW/MINI's ravenous copyright lawyers, but the good thing about having dealt with them scouring the web (including Cafe press) for copyright issues, is that many in the MINI community have learned just how far a manufacturer will go to protect their image, and what parts of it can be protected. LOL

I absolutely agree with you on all points, man. And I didn't mean to imply that you were upset. I was just saying that, generally, I hope that nobody who might be interested in one design gets upset if their design doesn't win out. Doing my best to keep this democratic, and hoping folks will appreciate the effort, because I'm not going to make any money here- this is just to do something nice for the MS3 community, so I'd hate for anyone to feel slighted.

To address your points... yeah, sorry if my badger/werewolf reply was a little snarky. I understand the concern about the donkey, but at the same time, Craig needed to come up with art work for groceries, family, and donkey that were all in a similar style. So he had to choose carefully. This donkey fits the style, and he has added the shoes to accentuate it.

As for the wheels, I agree that using stock wheels would be the best way to ensure that nobody feels left out in some way. I'm not personally a fan of the stockers, though, even though I haven't replaced mine yet. I thought the design chosen was relatively plain & not likely to cause anyone to turn their noses up.

Craig already sent me "final" drafts today. But before I post them, I'd like to hear some more comments on the wheels. Do we want to stick with stock wheels on the design? Were the artistically blank black wheels of #1-5 a better choice? Or are the wheels in #12/13 a satisfying compromise for folks?

Reminder images. Blank black wheels:

And the current design:

As soon as I see enough wheel comments, I will start a separate thread with a poll. It will offer all 5 designs, as Craig just forgot to attach the 5th design on the last batch. Very busy guy, so I can understand

I much much much prefer with the wheels than the empty vacant look. Honestly, I dislike the blank black wheel look enough that I wouldn't buy a shirt. To be blunt.

The second design is just levels above the first design.

As I indicated before, I really like the blacked out wheels and if I could find the real thing, I would consider them for looks on my True Red. Of course I`m not sure what no venting would do to the brakes...
In any event, I like them both ways. Neither wheel style would stop me from buying the shirt. To be fair, they probably should look like stock, or at least some stock Mazda wheel. Everyone seems to agree that the RX8 wheels look better than the stockers, and they are at least from Mazda. How about those?

Hmmm... I was hoping for a few more wheel comments by now. I am absolutely ready to post the poll, but with only 2 comments (not counting meicalnissyen's original comment, which would make 3), kind of hard to gauge overall public opinion.

Perhaps I will post the poll now & sort out the wheel issue in the meantime. I'll figure it out by the time I finish browsing the forums...

For me, any of the wheel styles in the revised editions would be great excepts for the last one (15?), or the stockers, just no black empty circles. The twelve-split-six spoke design above would be great for showing off the calipers.

Stock
blank
anythingelse

in that order

Why do those taillights bug me more and more? I'm starting to fixate

tip looks better, fatter would be perfect like the badge on the bumper

oh, on the turbo wheel design, I felt the mazdaspeed word should be the same color. red, silver, don't care

still holin out for the hot chick choice, but to be fair, I spent a good 5 min flickin images and found nuthin that was tasteful, Chicky, and matched the style of the other choices
