and the car is already starting to pull slightly to the left on highway speeds. :( I'll be taking it back in for that when my antenna comes in. It never ends.

is this just under acceleration or even when coasting? Cuz the car does have some torque steer to it. I havent noticed it at high speeds like that but it is a possibility, def be sure to check out the pull under all conditions (accel, coasting, braking, high speed, low speed, etc) just so youre prepared for anything the service guy asks you

well i went to the dealership on wednesday and it turns out that it is a fuel pressure soloniod. they say it has happened on a couple of the regular mazda3's that they have got in. so it is covered under waranty and im going in to get it fixed monday morning.

Well it has now happened to me. The light came on tonight when I left work. I just filled up with gas on Sunday at like 3:30pm. So it sounds like it might be along the same problems that everyone else is happening. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow which is close by, I didnt buy the car from them but they should still look at it I hope. It is still under warranty! I'll let ya all know what they find out.

When i picked mine up. Went out to start it, let it warm up left it for about 5 min came back and the "check engine light" was on. they pulled it right in the garage and put a code reader on it and they told me the dealer i had it shipped in from had put a lower octane gas in it. Only lasted about 20 min, Hasn't come on since... been a joy...

Well this morning they fit me in at the dealership I bought it at. Here the code they pulled was that the intake flap is getting stuck. The service manager told me that it might be a common problem because that part is back ordered right now. He also had one on order for a CX-7. They are both the same part and he told me they should be getting it in 2 weeks. Any one else hear of this yet?

Well the light came back on tonight. So it lasted about 3 drives before it came back on. I just hope they get the part in sooner than 2 weeks. I know its not hurting anything but it still bothers me the light is on.

PS - Just got home tonight to to find my hat in the mail I bought it off ebay....take a look see.

what is it about the little light that gets everyone so jacked up? i too can't stand it when it comes on...i think not knowing drives us nuts??? anyway, they'll (dealer) sort it out for you! nice hats!

I have a CEL light on too, after less than a month....and my car is pulling to the left just like the OP's MS3.

I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression, this car is absolutly badass. I love everything about it, I've just had some unfortunate luck. No worries though, I'd still recommend this car to anyone.

off topic.....but it's nice to see someone that can accept the fact that it is a car and problems will come up....and not just whining about how crappy *insert comapny here* is because they had an issue. This.....or at least a three hatch.....will be my next car, and I'm glad there's someone else out there spouting the good word

Yeah I totally understand the car is going to have problems and love the car too. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or heard of it yet. Oh and the light went off tonight now....hmmm

I am sure mazda will release a new gas cap soon. I had about everything that had to do with emission in my regular 2004 3 replaced, before they came out with a new gas cap that fixed the problem. I wouldn't bother taking your cars in until mazda comes up with the correct fix.

I have almost 2k miles on my MS3 and no CEL yet. It did come with a big notice sticker that it was factory road tested though...

How do you know if it is the gas cap setting off your light. The engine light covers a lot of things! So I dunno about not taking your car in, especially if you dont really know your car.

Thats good you had no light come on highway. I have 2200miles on mine and my light first came on at approx 2000miles. Hope it stays off!!

If the car isn't driven 5miles on the pdi it will more than likely throw a code right off the bat. It has to be driven the 5miles to take itself out of "transport mode", just like the cx-7's.

check engine light came on at 280 miles. brought it back to the dealer. they scanned it, 0441, purge valve.
they said they checked the valve and it was ok. cleared the code.
200 miles later the light is back on.
havent brought it back yet, but will when i get some free time (the dealer is about 40 minutes away plus the waiting time)
its damn annoying, even if it is nothing serious.

CEL's suck...i drove my MKIII jetta with one on for like 2 months...i checked it with my friends VAG-COM it was nothing, cleared it and it came back on...lol

I have just gotten so used to seeing it on my dash that I just bought a sticker of the CEL and put it on my car...

anyway hope for the best with your CEL's and hopefully ill be clear once I get my 3s in in a couple of days!!!

I'm part of the club too. Got my first CEL at around 800 miles. Bad purge vavle (I posted a thread on here about it somewhere). Around 2200 miles, came on again. This time though, the light seems to go on and off depending on temperature. Either way, car is in the shop for a new purge valve i'm sure.

Yeah the code I got I think the number was 2006 or 2002. Hope you get yours figured out mookie!

Well, I got my car back today and it was code '2006', bad VCS valve. I think they said VCS was "Variable Control Speed Valve" or something like that. They replaced it and things are fine now. I'm sure learning a lot about valves with this car! Hopefully this is the last one that needs replaced.
