Mazdaspeed 3 Corksport Downpipe

its going to be just shy of $200.

yes, that is more expensive than the "other guys". we also use thicker walled stainless steel, better welds we feel, thicker flanges and the addition of an extra o2 bung out of the box for those of you who are going to be wise and get a wideband. :)

we'll have test pipes next week according to my factory. at that point we'll have options for full replacement systems.

i come from the background of miatas and a mazdaspeed mx5, that being said, flyinmiata tends to offer package deals such as full exhaust setups at a slightly discounted price than buying everything individually. will you guys be planning something like that as well?

yes we do.

off topic - i visited FM a few years ago and got dynoed there. nice people.

Is your downpipe better than the ATP downpipe?,because im thinking of going with the ATP turbo upgrade in a few months.Must we do away with the cats or will they still work with your downpipe.3rdly what sort of gains could we expect with the combination of your down pipe and exhaust system for the speed3.I`m talking realistic numbers.E.g 20-25hp@crank max,any ideas?

corksport's removes the first catalytic converter and cp-e's removes two. catalytic converters are very restrictive components of the exhaust and are best removed for optimal horsepower gains. corksport's downpipe is a true divorced gas design which i feel will flow better than a non divorced gas design, especially for cars making bigger numbers. either downpipe will work with a turbo upgrade that keeps the same exhaust flange on the turbo.

with a downpipe, both cats deleted and a catback system i would say realistic wheel horsepower gains would be into the 30s range. some companies will tell you to expect much more, but i'd prefer to be honest about it.

30hp at the wheels is fantastic really. That makes the car around 300-310hp at crank which is a dream come true. That is enough power to take on a
350Z ,Mustang GT and BMW 335i, because i all those cars are in the 0-60mph 5.0-5.1sec region. The MS3 stock can do it in 5.5-5.7 stock.Ironicly all those cars are either exactly 300hp at crank or a tad above as far as the 350Z is concerned.

I have been going on prot garage every day drooling over that DP. Just a matter of time until I cave in and buy one :)

kosh i come on this forum every day and drool over you signature. thats a hot ride y0. :)

So the testpipe will have the o2 bung already installed? That's great! You made my day! I wasn't too excited about drilling a hole in my pipe and finding someone who could do a good welding job so I could install the wideband o2 sensor that I want to get.

I race my roommate in his 02' GT all the time... its mildy modded and we are neck and neck... well until he got a vortech

so if someone already bought an exhaust like mazda speed or corksport and bought the down pipe after they wouldnt need a test pipe right? Im pretty sure that my exhaust doesnt have the sec cat and eliminated the resonators. all i see from cat back is 3" pipe and the muffler.

none of the exhaust systems eliminate the second cat that i know of, so you would still need a test pipe

the CPE downpipe eliminates the 2nd cat (midpipe). Made it 1 piece instead of 2.

Is the 2nd cat after the 1st cat (i.e. is it more towards the exhaust tip) or vice versa? It's sounding to me like the 2nd cat IS the one that's more towards the exhaust tip and the 1st is the one that's closer to the downpipe.
If that is true, isn't that a less than optimal location for the O2 sensor since the exhaust has already passed through the 1st cat?

the first cat is in the stock downpipe RIGHT AFTER the turbocharger exhaust housing. the second cat is downstream in the center of the car.

Ken is this the cat or a resonator?
