Mazdaspeed 3 CAI ?

For the Canadians:

This afternoon I ordered the MS3 CAI (GRMS-8M-L29) from a dealer here in the Vancouver area. He's bringing it up from the States and it should be in next week.

i want one now...maybe i'll ask my parents to get me one for my birthday instead of givin me cash and my wife taking it and putting it in the bank

Can you please post the dealer (or PM it to me)? I'm planning on driving down to Vancouver this summer. If Mazda Canada doesn't get off their lazy butts and release it up here, I'd be interested in doing the same thing.

Thanks! :)

Ya what dealer in vancouver? Only reason i havent got one yet is cuz i had an aem cai on a previous car and it DID suck up water. But that was becasue with the body kit i had no fender liner on.

Seriously, guys, it's more like 12-14" of water to get a hydrolock with this thing. You'd have to completely submerge the inlet, not just get the filter wet. If you're in that much water, you'll have a lot more problems than just hydrolocking the motor.

Thanks, that sounds a bit more reassuring!

My MS3 CAI is now installed...it looks great... I did notice a little more power via the seat of my pants...and the increased sound is minimal...

I do notice a hissing type sound once the revs get to 3000rpm or so when accelerating..you feel the power coming on at that time as well...

Are any of you proud new owners planning on the following:

- adding a fuel-controller or ECU re-program (Cobb Access Port or equivalent)?
- having a before/after dyno run just for fun?

(yes)

I've known of quite a few ppl to hydrolock with a CAI here in central fl. It rains a hell of a lot here and you can't always tell how deep a puddle is, especially at night. So you don't have to be "stupid" for it to happen. It's just the risk you chose to take, it can and does happen. Personally, I'd go with an SRI. It'll be easy to install, uninstall, clean, cost less $$, and produce to same keep of hp/tq gains. This BS about heat soak at a stop is just retarded. As soon as you're rolling up to speed the temps go down almost immediately making this argument kind of dumb and extremely nit picky at best. Also metal conducts heat so the longer you’ve be rolling with a CAI the hotter that metal gets causing the incoming “cold air” to became hot air. The only way you’re going to have a real significant impact on heat soak is by installing a front mount intercooler.

Air isn't in the intake long enough to become heated by anything significant.

I have the MS CAI as a SRI and will put it back to a CAI for the summer.

I bought it in October and though since every other CAI I have had gets terribly dirty/icy in the winter. I would install it as a SRI for the time being.
