Mazdaspeed 3 CAI ?

I understand all of your concerns regarding this part number. It’s been stated several times within this string this is the older part number. I can only say this is the part number that is listed in the accessories catalog for MS; printed on 10/08. I've called the dealer three times since posting to confirm this as being the part number. The information posted here is based on what this dealer is stating. If you doubt, I suggest throwing Compass Mazda in your Google search and calling the parts department.

As long as you have Mazdaspeed performance parts with the Blue or Green Warranty installed by the dealer you're covered in the event of a failure allegedly caused by the MS performance part

Bull s***, the part is warranty, it does not extend to the whole engine.

You are correct that the 12 month warranty applies to the CAI itself. But, if a Mazda dealer installs a Mazdaspeed part such as its CAI, Mazda cannot later deny a warranty claim based on the Mazdaspeed part as long as the car warranty itself is in effect.

i know that this thread is a little old, but i just got off the phone with Mazda USA and they stated that the CAI for the speed 3 is not out yet and they don't know when it will be. Reason i called was because i just saw this post last night and wanted to know more and what they will do for me. So if i were you, i wouldn't buy that intake. just take it from all of us on here.

CORRECTION:

Just spoke with my local dealership, they said MSCAI is "held for inspection". Lost cause once again.

Just spoke with Compass Mazda in Middletown, NY (THANKS OUTKAST!!!!) and Carl at the Parts Dept was extremely considerate and helpful. Olive Branch (in Mississippi) has 70 MSCAI's in stock. If you go through your local dealership, you'll have to hold their hand and tell them to look deeper, and even inform them that Olive Branch has 70 MSCAI's and have them order you one.

GRMS-8M-L29 Mazdaspeed 3 CAI= AVAILABLE!!!

lets get this straightened out, call mazda usa and get the part number of the one re-called and see if they have the part number to the "supposedly" new one. its hard to believe that they would use the same part number over again. think about it!

I believe the accessories catalog was sent to print before Mazda made the decision to pull the CAI back in late September. Maybe that's why?

Dude..i'm not calling Mazda, you call. Alls I know is, mine's on order bitches. Enjoy debating! I'll post up pictures of it once I get it. I'm really praying it has the air straightner. That'll solve all questions.

Resurrecting because it didn't see it posted yet. Other members have also confirmed an updated MS3 CAI has been released already. It's the same pipe/filter with the air straightener. Trying to find out if the part # is different. Will post back when I find out.

Ok. I just talked to Carl and Compass Mazda.

the 70 CAI's at olive branch are the mazdaspeed intake for the regular mazda3 NOT the mazdaspeed3.

However, good news! According to Carl, the new CAI for the mazdaspeed3 has a stated release date of January 21 2009. That's a week from now.

I realize there's a lot of conflicting information out there, so take it for what it's worth. However, the fact that he could give me a release date seems pretty promising.

haha, i just happened to stumble on this thread after being inactive for a while and found out that people from all across the country are contacting the dealership i bought my MS3 from to get info on the new CAI. they had by far the best customer service of any of the dealerships, mazda or not, i checked out while shopping around.

i'll have to see if i can't stop on my way home from work one day and befriend Carl since he seems to be a champ according to all of you. might save me some hassle down the road with any prospective warranty work.

this is funny cuz i was just at the dealer yesterday to ask if they had any other service interval items for the speed3 that aren't in the owners manual, and i asked a question about ppl coming in and getting turned down because of aftermarket parts. he told me he had to void a few warranty problems, but that he never simply turns anyone down.

then another guy asked me if i really needed anymore power in the speed, to which i jokingly replied "um yea...i can't break free in 3rd".

then i said "maybe if the speed3 CAI ever comes back out i'll get that" and the head tech assured me it wold be back, he just didn't know when

If the mz3 cold air intake was 70 units, then the mscai was 25 units available at the depot. When mine was ordered last wednesday, they had 25 units on hand. I'm hoping I get mine within the next couple days.

Wow. really? the degree of bad information regarding this damn CAI is staggering. now I have no idea what to believe....considering I talked to the same guy and when he told you they had 25 units, he told me there were none to be had.

now, I guess it's possible that all 25 got ordered?

oh well. I'll wait till next week and then see what the story is.

When I spoke to Carl, he said 70 units in Olive Branch, Mississippi. When I had my dealership place the order, they said there were 25 units. If someone else spoke with Carl at Compass Mazda and he said those 70 units were MZ3 MSCAI's, then that means the 25 units I found at their parts depot in Olive Branch are the MS3 MSCAI.

Process of elimination really.

Continuing with the logic, if I don't get my intake until the end of the month, or beginning of February, that means then that the January 21st release date was infact true. But, I don't see how they'd allow my dealer to order mine then.

Regardless, I will gladly post pictures of part numbers, invoice sheet, and all the parts included (which..the true test will be if the air straightener is included..)

The proof that it's revised: Air straightener and instructions!

I noticed there is a small notch on the air straigthener and according to the instructions, it's there to appropriately line up the straightener:

Thanks for the awesome pics and congrats on your new toy...

So in summary, does anyone have an idea of what the change from Mazda for their CAI is supposed to yield on the dyno for our cars? (Well, at least my 2008.05 sport MS3, thank you)

Thanks!

Dyno shouldn't change. The only difference is the air straightener.

It supposedly yields 20+ avg hp. AEM's got a dyno proven 28+.

I'm a little confused about the notch on the straightener (also on the coupler). I would assume the straightener is supposed to be like that, although i'd assume it'd be parrallel to the MAF. Guess i'll find out once I install (won't be till it gets warm..)

The AEM instructions show the straightener to be parallel with the maf- and the AEM AFS I bought doesn't have any sort of alignment notch.
