Mazdaspeed 3 CAI & Cobb ECU flash

I read that cobb will release a map for the ms cai, since there were so many potential customers worried about it. Since when do people with the ms cai throw cels. I haven't heard of a single CEL caused by the ms intake

There are more threads as I took months to decide and read every tidbit, I just don't have the wherewithal to sort through the search now, so this is the first one I came aross.

well we would probably be making maps available to people when the time comes. I have experience with the AP and it is a pretty simple tool to use.

So if I were to purchase the Cobb AP, and I order it along with a "I have xyz done to my car", you guys would (for an extra charge I would assume), send it loaded with a map for my car?

No, Cobb will make a set of maps you can download at their site, or you can buy 'streettuner' software and then you can't use Cobb maps any longer, you have to make custom maps or download them from other endusers like yourself. I plan on getting streettuner software myself. Need a laptop though because you can run/test 'live' tunes without reflashing the ECU to see how they'll affect your car, but obviously hard to have a PC hooked up from my computer room upstairs on the other side of the house to my Access Port in the garage on the ground level. So, I guess, you don't HAVE to have a laptop, but certainly it would be a little more convenient...

But maybe somewhere like ProtegeGarage has a solution to the streettuner maps thing, or I understand incorrectly; it seemed when I read the manual for Subaru's that once you use/have use of the custom maps you can't use a Cobb-made map any longer, and you have to have the streettuner software.
