mazdaspeed 3 and mazda 3 mpg

I'm looking for real mpg figures from ppl who actually own these cars. The mazda3 would be the 2.5 with the standard. I don't totally trust car and driver, etc with those figures. My daily commute to work is 92 miles round trip and 85% of it is highway (75mph). Mazda is making it very hard since a grand touring 3 is only 300 less than a mazdaspeed 3. Any info is greatly appreciated

I can tell you not that no matter what you do that the speed 3 is going to give u significantly less MPG just for the fact its turbocharged

with highway driving youll probably get mid 20s with the MS3. its still the same motor ast he previous model.

im sure it probably is the same as the older one, but I don't trust car magazines figures. I've been trolling on here trying to search for actual figures, but I can't seem to find them.

I can sort of help. lol. I currently drive a 2010 Mazda3 Sedan with the 2.5 Litre 6-speed and get 8.8L per 100km (26.7 mpg) For the past couple of weeks I've been driving a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 and averaging 9.3L per 100km (25.2 mpg) My commute is very similar to yours except it's only 120km round trip, still about 85% highway.

On a long highway trip (Montreal to Toronto) I recently got the Mazdaspeed3 down to 8.2L per 100 km (28.6 mpg) After driving them both back to back I would get the Mazdaspeed3. Also to compare I get 9.8L per 100km in my Mazdaspeed6 (24 mpg)

Although my MX-5 is the winner. I average 7.8L per 100km or 30 mpg.

24.934
31.553
27.565
29.531
27.867

Those are the figures for all of my fill ups since i've had the car. the first one is kind of bunk since it's the one from the dealer and had test drive miles on it. the rest are more real data. this gets similar mpg to what my 2.3 did. cept that was auto and i have the 6spd manual 2.5 liter. hopefully that helps some. i of course have no info on the ms3

thanks for the hard data. I'm still not sure what car I'm going to get. It's a toss up between 4 models

Depends on how you drive and highway vs city. I have 2.5 with 6 speed hatch and I average 24. Probably 65% city driving. You can probably get high 20's or maybe better on the highway.
