Update: Mazda is trying to give me an upgraded head unit because of the window sticker error on my 2007 speed3. BUT, my local parts manager says "no can do" and Mazda USA customer service has been emailing Mazda Japan to try to verify compatibility. Has anyone actually upgraded the single CD head unit from the sport to the 6-CD changer from the GT?

With the GT you not only get the 6 CD charger but the Bose system which consist of 6 speakers and a sub woofer under the passenger seat.
I have seen a post in this forum about a person I think Elderlycoffee that they are going to buy his car back or something.

Yeah, that is probably the issue, for the Speed3 you got your Bose + changer or you got your single cd + no Bose, and that is all the flavors there are. Anything else does not compute. It still remains to be seen if the CD changer is compatible with the Sport - I am guessing it is. Anyone done it?

i want to put in the CD changer into my MS3 sport as well. i should have held out for a GT but the dealer duped me and said they weren't getting anymore MS3s for 2 months and i needed a new car ASAP. anyways, i went to the parts dept. at my dealer and they said u can get the 6 disc changer for $525. i dont see how there would be any compatibility issues with the non bose stereo because its just a matter of connecting the wiring to the existing wires.
Update: I got a call today from Mazda USA and they said Mazda Japan confirmed that the 6-CD changer will fit in the Speed 3 sport w/o Bose. I have part numbers somewhere if anyone needs them. They are also kicking in $120 in gift certificates because they can not offer a Bose upgrade - pretty damn decent in my opinion. Zoom Zoom
I want to keep the stock system to maintain integration with the LCD display and the steering wheel controls, so
1) Any suggestions on a decent small amp to improve sound quality on Infinity Reference 6810cs component speakers? I am not planning on a sub.
2) Anyone had any experience with the Infinity Reference 6810cs component speakers in a 3? I have them in my 2003 Miata and plan to move them to the Speed3.

Wow, that just caps it off for stupid dealers. Ummmmm, yeah there are non-bose options for the stereo with a 6CD changer. Gee if they'd looked in their parts database they would have seen that.
GDorris, before they order your new stereo you might want to get them to order you the 6CD/Mp3 changer. I think the difference in price is about $50, so now would be the time to get it, even if you have to foot the extra $$ out of your own pocket... or gift certificate.

I assume that the changer is mp3 capable but I will confirm.

None of the '07 models that I've seen have been Mp3 capable, inlcuding a GT MS3 that I was in this weekend. The build a car section at www.mazdausa.com no longer has the Mp3 player even listed as an option, or as a feature so maybe they're just hoping no one will ask about it. :lol: If your stereo is Mp3 capable then it will say "MP3" on the faceplate right above the 6CD icon. Remember that the 6CD/Mp3 player comes standard in some other countries, and they use the same manual for multiple countries.
Not calling you a liar, but check to see if it plays them and then let us know. If they did decide to start including them standard then that's great news for everyone involved. btw, what's your "freebie"?

They danced around the subject pointing out the speed 3 catalogue saying that it isn't option. I said I want everything on that window sticker in my car or I'm going to seek legal counsel. we'll see what happens
