Mazdaspeed 2004 Mx-5 Hard Shifting 1st To 2nd

I have been experiencing hard shifting from first to second (and vary occasionaly second to third) on my MX-5 sixspeed. It only happens on the upshift, never a downshift. I seems to happen more when it is cold, but does happen when it is hot from driving. Occasionaly it is grinding the gear as it goes into second.

The dealer has been trying to convince me this is normal. So far they have replaced the oil with redline but have resisted fixing the transmission. It is under warranty still (i have 32,000 on the car).

Anyone else with this problem? Any advise?

Yes. Go to a different dealership. There's no way that's normal.

With convential fluids and cold weather, it is a bit notchy but with synthetic, it shouldn't occur.
