those Miata's were track prepped with R-comp tires. Traction in the corners is where real speed is made. I was sliding around on my Bridgestone RE050A street tires!

But I still passed em all! (rockon)

I stopped renting those timing transponders after I learned they will VOID any possible auto insurance claim. But I would guess in the 2:25 range

Some insurers - NOT ALL - will cover damage at an event like this. That's because they can be considered "driver educational". But if the event is timed or awards for positions then its considered racing conditions and excempt from any possible coverage.

Lots of people don't believe there's any coverage period. I know for a fact that a friend who totalled his Mitsu EVO at Buttonwillow got it written-off by Progressive Auto Insurance.

That looks like so much fun! I would love to get some time out on a track.

u got to bro....track is 10x more fun than autoX....u only get 50-60 sec autox....track session is about 10 mins....2:30 min per lap.....its freaky awsome!! but its also more expense...(ugh)

RX-8: Check
Protege: mmm buhbye
Race-prepped Miatas: GIT OUT THEWAY!!!

I was actually cheering you on when you finally passed him. Maybe he should have kept his top on to eek out a little better aerodynamics.

thanks guys!

I must admit that I probably had an unfair advantage of really knowing the Buttonwillow track. I've been there many times.

Still, I was very pleased - and it was pure joy - to basically be the fastest car in the intermediate class. I didn't have the lap timer on to prove it, but I think the vids speak for themselves.

I said it many times.......I really do advocate everyone experiencing a track day. They are not dangerous or really risky at all unless you are a complete moron. The rules are strictly enforced and people are naturally courteous and cautious.
