Mazda6 Motorized screen

Hey everyone,

I found the following screen on the web:

After going back and forth with them for a month, they say they'll sell the unit WITHOUT the LCD screen for $150.00 + Shipping.

This SEEMS like what everyone (including myself) has been waiting for, so I'm wondering if anyone's interested in a group buy, or if there's at least enough interest that I can justify buying 10 of them and popping them on Ebay.

Any takers???

The real question is - can just any screen be mounted in it? I would def. be interested but would need to see some actual pics and fitment.
 
I suppose I'll ginuea-pig it. They want 90 bucks for shipment of a single unit (presumably it would be about the same for 10 pieces).
 
$150? $90?! s***... I'm on this like white on rice! As a matter of fact, if after test mounting another screen option... I might want a few of them to resell to other members here and on Mazda 6 club . com with the VGA touchscreen pre-mounted... just a thought. As far as what can bemoutned in it... I know of several 7" touchscreen VGA monitor options... all will be a little different for mounting... different brand screen and different controller card setup. Anyway...definitely keep me posted.

BTW... there is something out there for the Mazda 3 too, I believe...

Yeah... tell me about it... and for 150 a pop, I'm willing to shell out for 10 of them and take the risk that I'll be able to sell them off.

I've left them another email asking how much shipping is for 10. I hope to hear back tonight.

What screens do you plan to put in them anyway, if you don't mind me asking? I plan to mount my Lilliput 7".

Given the comments on mp3car.com and why they went with Lilliput instead of Xenarc for their transflective screen make me think that the Lilliput will probably work out to be the better choice. Plus it seems to have a smaller profile which should help to make it all fit. There are a couple other screens I'd consider, but they are both a bit pricey, so I'll leave those for sometime in the future (version 2.0).

Seriously, if this screen thing works out... looks good, works good and screen fits fine... my CarPC project will be taking a leap forward...

I Dunno... It was originally made for a Panasonic 7" LCD. I'm not sure what it'll fit right now, including the other screens we've been talking about.

It's all just a big gamble right now.

Don't recommend the Clarion NICE or any all-in-one/aftermarket nav system... unless you are willing to lose your warranty on the device and/or are willing to do some fabrication.

To make the Lilliput, Xenarc, etc. 7" VGA touchscreens fit, they will HAVE to be removed from their cases and remounted into the enclosure. So you'll either have to do the same and/or cut up the enclosure in an attempt to make the whole unit fit inside.
 
Well, I got the reply back from them. They want 1300 + 350 shipping for 10 units.

I think I'm going to be the guinea pig and order a single unit at some ridiculous shipping price, and check it out. If it works, I'll order an additional 10 and distribute to you guys, and pop the rest on Ebay.

Japan8: If you want, I can ship out the single unit to you when I'm done so you can test it with the screen you want to integrate. I have a feeling it's not going to be that easy... It's going to at least require some soldering to wire up the buttons, so it's not going to be a mass production thing.

I'll let you know when I get it... it could take a few weeks coming in from China.

A motorized screen with touchscreen would be ideal. The solution I think we all have been waiting for. Although not too long in my case :)

Why ordering the motorized unit only? Can the whole thing be ordered?
 
The whole thing is useless. The screen is a composite and RCA analog input screen. Meaning no nice computer VGA or DVI input... which is what we all want it for.
