Mazda6 Issues

I have been a Mazda6 owner since Jan-13 when I picked-up the new GT Wagon Diesel. However, I have had issues with the build quality. These are the issues identified and fixed (to the credit of Mazda) I have had and wondering if this is just isolated:

1. Recall with the DC/DC converter (everyone who owned one at the time should have experienced this)
2. Driver side roof rubbers loose under the roof lining causing a clicking sound when turning corners
3. Boost sensor failure causing an engine fault light (heard this was a problem on the CX-5 as well)
4. SD card reader causing the GPS to report invalid GPS signal consistently and also causing a "spinning screen" on the navigator when the car is stopped at traffic lights

The latest issue is:
5. That I have noticed the i-eloop capacitor going all day without charging (i.e. the capacitor bars never fill) even though the display is saying it is charging. iStop does not work during this time either and the overall fuel economy of the car becomes poor. The next day or so, everything works again! Mazda is checking it out at my car's first 10,000Km service next Friday. Has anyone experienced this?

Sorry to hear about your problems. At this point (3,000miles) with my car (2.5 regular gas) I have had none of the issues you describe. I don't have i-eloop.

Hope they can address all your problems.

same here...had my GT 6 G-engine since March and I have 6,300 miles and no issues. I've heard of a recall on the IE loop in Australia because they were running hot and caused fires. I passed on a majority of tech packages for this reason...technology becomes obsolete in months, so I have NAV and basic tech. Bummer to hear that, it's a great car.

I am also from Sydney. Recently bought a demo model, 11/2012 Touring Wagon in diesel. We have clocked 7,000kms already and everything seems to be working great. Averaging 5.9l/100kms, not sure how they advertise 5.4, seems iimpossibe to average that!

Difficult to assess the situation, as the oil burner hasn't hit the USDM just yet, and the majority of forum members here are in America. Not a great source for feedback just yet, regarding that powertrain.

Sorry you're having issues, though. I knew that capacitor was going to be troublesome. That's not an option I'd choose if I were buying a new 6 (not that it is an option yet in USDM anyway, lol).
Overall, sounds like a slew of first m/y gremlins. You can categorize yourself as a Mazda R&D guinea pig.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

Hi thends,

I to have recently (Augutst 2013) taken ownership of a Mazda6 GT Touring with a diesel engine and am experiencing an intermittent issue of the i-Eloop not charging.
The only indication I get that its not charging is that the iStop light goes off on the dash board, the Eloop charge value is at only one bar on the dashboard. Also I get this (hard to describe) resonance sound humming through the cabin when it tries to charge the capacitor. I also get an electrical overheating smell come through the air vents. It does this for about 10-15mins and then goes back to normal ie: iStop light comes on and charging of the capacitor goes to full.
Been to the dealer and they couldn't fault it as yet and sent me home to monitor.
I'm trying to narrow it down but nothing specific will trigger the failure to charge.
Hopefully others out there will be experiencing this and we can get Mazda to look into it with more enthusiasm.

Hi Red_mazda6, and to the OP, to me that doesn't sound like a fault with the car. It sounds like the diesel engine is going through the Regeneration phase of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). It'll use more fuel for a little while to create enough exhaust heat to burn and flush out the soot in the DPF. If you google it, you'll find its a common occurrence with most diesel vehicles that are fitted with a DPF.

Hi,red, I have same situation like you said. Have you find the problem? Plz reply me, thanks~(smoke)
