2010 Mazda 5 Touring dropped on H&R Springs with Tarmac 3 - 18x8 +42 w/ Hankook V12 225/40/18

Sorry but I can't seem to find the info, does anybody knows the offset of the 2012 Mazda 5 16 inch rims? Thanks in advance. Of course my last source would be to take off the rim :-(.

Wheel Fitment

Hello, first I'd like to say I've seen some extraordinary vehicles on this site. I've just purchased a 2007 Mazda 5 Sport and would like to get some advice about putting some 19" wheels on it. What im looking at are some XXR 518 19"x8.5 with a 43 offset, should I go with a 215 or a 225 tire and will it rub if I drop it because I also purchased a coil over kit by yellow speed. Thanks for y'all input.

With that offset you'll probably have to pull your camber in to at least -2 to not rub in the front. I would go with a skinnier tire if possible (215/35-18). You'll have to roll the fenders in the rear to clear unless you want to crank in your camber to -2.5 degrees or higher. You can reduce some of this by rolling the fender (there's a 17mm lip). I would recommend a +48 or +50mm offset wheel to make things a bit easier. This is assuming a 1.3/1.4" drop like the H&R Sport springs.

I replied to your post under the tether section. I'm running 19" wheels, staggered with 225 front and 235 rear. Let us know how that yellow speed kit works. I am assuming it s made for the Mazda3. I was thinking of snagging the BC's, but tha yells speed kit is a few dollars less.

Hey thanks for the reply, as for the yellow speed kit, it was made specifically for the Mazda 5 straight from their factory overseas.

i agree at getting any mazda5 specific kit you can. from what i've seen, the mazda5 specific kits have higher spring rates. that should control the body movements better.

I'm gonna have to look into that. My buddy has BC on his Holden and they ride great. Keep us updated on the progress of your whip.

A skilled fender roller will be able to roll those fenders without cracking the paint. Those wheels would sick on there. Especially with your stance and color.

You'll need a spacer up front to clear the strut housing, then some pretty aggressive camber (-2.0 or more) to clear the fender and maybe even a fender roll or pull. The rear will need a fender roll and at least -2 degrees of camber too.

I had 19 x 8.5's on my 5 and the offset was 48mm and I had no problems clearing the strut housing so you should be fine

Wicked, I think sometimes people over think the fitments, especially if they haven't had experience with lowering and upsizing wheels. After reading your lowered lifestyle profile, you remind me of myself. By the way, that is one proper 6.

Hmm... the tires in the link are 245/40 though- those are pretty wide. With 235/45 tires and the sidewalls pulled in on narrower wheels (17x7) with an effective +47 offset, I had 7mm of clearance between my strut housing and the inner sidewall. The wider tire on the wider wheel just might not make it.

Oh man, wait until you see my thread about fitment, especially after all the questions I peppered you with. :) I have had a good bit of experience lowering and upsizing- I just overthink things like this because I'm an engineer. ;)

And Wicked, that is an AWESOME 6.

With the 19's I have now I dont even have 1mm of clearance between wheel and strut. Thanks for the comments guys on the 6!

I can't wait to see the thread either phunky. My brain just stopped hurting from the last set of questions you asked me ;)

Wow, and no contact? Zero rubbing at the strut? I was worried about upper tire flex under heavy cornering. I guess if you're a bit stretched it's not an issue, but if you have straight sidewalls and room to move, you could still hit it.

Sorry. :) You should see what I deal with at work- those questions are nothing. :D
